Sr. Network Engineer (LAB)
Location: Dallas, TX (Onsite) / remote Flexibility
Duration: 12-24 hours
Rate: W2 or C2C
This Network Engineer is going to buildout, modify and support our lab environment that the SDN team uses to test before deployments. The lab will support any modifications to the Network designs and work with our hardware vendors to add or support any/all hardware.
Responsibilities:
- Submit, manage, and document firewall requests using a variety of internal systems specific to each network.
- Maintain and document group's internal labs including:
o network setup,
o server builds,
o VM creation,
o license management,
o and looking for ways to improve efficiencies through automation and the management of resource utilization.
- Build out testbeds including physical installation of hardware (switches, routers and servers) and maintaining these testbeds.
- Create Linux & WireGuard user accounts (Ansible based creation for lab environment) and determine appropriate levels of access
- Work with the SDN Architecture and Development team and understand new technology/design, changes to existing technology/design and what is required of internal group labs to support the changes.
- Troubleshoot network communication issues by either fixing the problem or provide an alternative method for issues reported.
Skills Needed:
- 7 or more years of relevant work experience.
- Hands-on experience in the following technologies and protocols: Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS), KVM, OpenStack, IPv4, IPv6, VPN, VLAN.
- Experience with Ansible for configuring equipment and performing routine tasks
- Industry technology leadership skill.
- Multi-vendor system integration and technical vendor management experience.
- SDN knowledge and development experience.
- Open networking, open API, and open platform development experience.
- Knowledge of deploying virtualized application in Linux environments - docker container, Kubernetes, VMWare, etc.
- Familiar with network security.
