Residential & Dining Enterprises (R&DE), the largest auxiliary organization at Stanford University, supports the academic mission of the university by providing the highest quality services to students and other members of the university community. The Department has an annual operating budget of over $316 million and is steward of a $3.1B asset portfolio comprising seven million square feet (one-third of Stanford's physical plant), provides housing for nearly 14,000 students and their dependents, serves over 18,000 daily meals at 30 dining and retail locations and over 500,000 meals at athletic concessions events, and hosts 20,000 conference guests annually. R&DE comprises 1,300 FTE and part-time staff in the following divisions: the Office of the Senior Associate Vice Provost (SAVP), Student Housing Operations, Stanford Dining, Stanford Hospitality & Auxiliaries, Stanford Conferences, and a team of R&DE strategic business partners: Finance & Administration, Human Resources, Information Technology, Maintenance Operations and Capital Projects, and Strategic Communications.

Oversee and manage assigned area, including staff engaged in facilities management, custodial services, or building/equipment maintenance.
CORE DUTIES :
Coordinate daily activities of assigned shop(s), including: scheduling and assigning work to staff and directing and leading workers in completing assigned work; monitoring work and project activity progress, making necessary changes; completing performance evaluations of assigned staff; performing quality assurance checks, and coordinating health and safety programs and training.
Track budget for area of responsibility, and provide time and workforce needs and estimates to higher level management based on cost analyses, ensuring work is completed according to stipulated price and agreement.
Implement, interpret, and manage policies and procedures pertaining to operations and facilities management.
Manage service contracts as applicable.
Coordinate activities, construction, and renovation with Stanford staff, subcontractors, and/or vendors. Support assigned project activities; ensure compliance with larger unit goals.
Additional core duties of Building Operations Supervisor (BOS), Off-campus Operations Supervisor (OOS), or Housing Operations Supervisor (HOS):
Demonstrated experience and ability to directly supervise and manage building/area (interior and exterior) custodial and facility operations, and diverse custodial bargaining unit staff and temporary employees, in a 24/7/365 university housing environment with a variety of building types (residential, dining, administrative offices, commercial kitchens, events spaces, guest rooms, etc.), and building occupants (students, faculty, staff, conference guests, etc.).
Demonstrated experience and ability to inspect, report, and provide follow-up on building/area custodial, facility, and maintenance issues.
ability to build and sustain effective, positive, and efficient teams.
Demonstrated ability to understand and communicate customer needs in order to assist in the development, planning, and implementation of appropriate actions to meet customer, departmental and university expectations.
Ability to serve on the after-hours response "duty supervisor" rotation program (responding to and taking action on emergency phone calls for division and department). "Duty Supervisor" role usually is for two or three week-long rotations per year. Ability to serve as back-up for other BOS/OOS, as well as provide back-up for Housing Building Manager when requested.
Experience and ability using computer applications and other technology to manage/complete essential job functions and to manage assigned projects, programs, and initiatives.

Education & Experience:
A combination of education, training and experience performing responsibilities similar to those listed above. Preferred post-secondary school education.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to utilize technology in support of facilities management (work order systems, spreadsheets, trend analysis, etc.)
Experience in working in a higher education residential academic environment preferred.
Ability to coordinate daily activities including work scheduling, quality assurance, program validation, monitoring of maintenance activities, and supervision of personnel.
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously on projects and initiatives, producing accurate results within tight timelines and with limited resources.
Demonstrated experience working with subcontractors/vendors and demonstrated ability to monitor project activities and ensure compliance with internal/external regulations.
Demonstrated experience analyzing and interpreting policies.
Knowledge of environmental and safety rules, regulations, and policies. Ability to conduct job site inspections to ensure compliance.
Ability to follow written and verbal directions and communicate those instructions to others.
Certifications and Licenses:
Must possess a valid CA driver's license.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
Frequent sitting, desk-based computer tasks, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds, complete visual inspections of facilities.
Frequent standing/walking (including up and down stairs), twisting/bending/stooping/squatting, grasping lightly/fine manipulation, using a telephone, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling objects that weigh up to 11-20 pounds.
Rarely kneel/crawl, climb (ladders, scaffolds, or other), reach/work above shoulders, grasp forcefully, writing by hand, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh >40 pounds.
Requires 24-hour response availability seven days per week for emergency situations.
May be exposed to noise > 80dB TWA.
May work at heights 4 - 10 ft.
