GENERAL FOREMAN - Pipefitter Location: Newport News, Virginia, United States Date: Sep 19, 2022 Job Description The Plant Operations Piping General Foreman reports to the Manager of Plant Operations and will provide leadership & direction to all plant distribution piping maintenance and operational personnel. The primary role of the Piping General Foreman is to provide clear leadership and technical support to the Piping and Roads and Grounds Foreman. This position manages the Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery of all non-electrical utility services. The General Foreman is responsible for all operating aspects of the piping distribution systems including compliance to all local, state, and federal regulations. This position is critical to our emergency response organization and supports the yard 24/7. The Piping General Foremam is required to develop an effective teaming relationship with the facilities engineers, planners, and other trades. Candidate shall have the technical knowledge to support his direct reports in troubleshooting system problems, provide resolutions for system problems/configuration changes, and provide input to support the development of technical documentation that governs the safe operations and repairs of the systems and plants. Additional areas of responsibility include and are not limited to: • Responsible for all aspects of operation and maintenance of piping distribution systems supporting nuclear/shipboard operation/testing such as the 600# Steam, River Water, City Water, DI Water Facility and High Pressure (5000# & 3000#) Air systems. • Responsible for all aspects of operation and maintenance of distribution piping systems and gas farms such as the 150# Steam, Low Pressure (100#) Air, Propane, Welding Gases, Nitrogen, Sprinkler Piping & Fire Pumping Stations, Sewer and Storm Water systems. • Responsible for Providing Emergency response services 24/7, including Fire department support and ERO support. • Responsible for ensuring all employees are qualified to perform their assigned job functions by identifying and scheduling required training for their employees. • Responsible for Roads and Grounds Maintenance and providing snow removal services • Responsible for developing and maintaining operating procedures for facilities. • Responsible for the adherence and administration of all NNS Policies and Procedures. • Responsible for ensuring that all facilities and systems are operated in a safe and efficient manner. • Responsible for building strong customer relationships. • Duties include cost management of indirect and direct budgets, Tactical Planning, Labor Resource Planning, Long Range Strategic Planning, and forecasting for the Capital AOP and the Forward Pricing Plan. • Duties include implementing LCAM across their equipment and systems. • Duties also include implementing process improvement across all systems. • Duties also include succession planning including training, development and coaching of all team members. Basic Qualifications Preferred Qualifications Must possess comprehensive knowledge of piping distribution systems, with a strong understanding of piping system operation. • Strong knowledge of B31 Power Piping codes, NFPA, and Plumbing Codes. • Requires strong leadership and management skills. • Average or above interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. • Strong aptitude for and understanding of basic business and financial principles. • Ability to think strategically, act tactically, delegate appropriately, work well with others, possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, and promote a safe work environment. • Ability to analyze processes, organize data, draw conclusions based on facts, and provide implementation leadership. • Must be able to plan organize and carry out long-range operation and maintenance strategies. • Experience with personal computer applications, especially word processing and spreadsheet applications. • Requires the ability to physically access a wide variety of work sites, including those aboard ships under various stages of construction or overhaul, including the use of vertical and inclined ladders, and may involve limited kneeling, stooping, standing, etc. • Experience in Life Cycle Asset Management practices. • Experience with Trades Labor Relations. • Experience with power piping systems. • Strong communication skills. • Strong knowledge of casualty control for distribution piping operations. • Knowledge of welding shield gas, propane gas and nitrogen gas generation. • Experience in PLC or DCS based control systems and strategies are highly desired. • Experience with sewer and storm water systems. • Experience with fire protection systems. + Req ID: 26256 + Department: O46 PLANT UTILITY OPS + Entity: NN SHIPBUILDING (0265) + Travel Required: No + Shift: 1st + Relocation: No relocation assistance available + Education: High School Diploma/GED + Virtual/Telework Opportunity: No - Not eligible for telework + US Citizenship Required for this Position: Yes + Clearance Type: No - Clearance Not Required to Start EEO Statement: HII is an Equal Opportunity/Vets and Disabled Employer.
