The candidate for this position will be assigned to CDM Smith's Brunswick County Northwest Water Treatment Plan construction field office near the city of Wilmington, NC and will be expected to work at the construction project field office for approximately 2 years. Under direct supervision, performs basic engineering tasks, administrative, and technical support to construction project manager in support of a water treatment facility expansion. Reviews submittals, shop drawings, and requests for information. Supports in the management and administration of construction document control. Reviews construction work put in place for conformance with construction plans. Identifies deficiencies in constructed structures. Reviews contract terms and conditions. Confirms that construction timelines, costs, and materials are in compliance with contract terms and conditions. Documents deficiencies, expected cost overruns, materials issues and related construction issues or risks. Prepares related reports. May assist with reports of construction activities. Communicates construction issues to project leadership. Escalates issues to appropriate design staff for resolution. Communicates issue resolution to appropriate construction staff and closes the loop with project leadership when documented issues are resolved. Reviews draft designs and reports for compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Ensures that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs. May create or work with a team to create a poster or other presentation material for a conference.
