Job Summary The ITAM System Engineering group is responsible for working directly with SHI's clients to gather all the data needed to manage their IT hardware and software assets. Once the data is gathered and sanitized it is passed on to other SHI groups for license analysis and inventory reporting. The ITAM System Engineering Manager role combines oversight of the technical process of data gathering, team management and liaison with clients and other SHI groups working towards the client's ITAM goals. The ITAM System Engineering Manager can be office based from either Austin TX, Somerset NJ, Paris France or Milton Keynes UK offices. It is expected that this role will require frequent travel both nationally and internationally (30%). Provide personnel management of the ITAM Systems Engineering group including attendance, mentoring, performance review, and advancement. Act as a single point of escalation for issues originating within the System Engineering team and as a liaison with customers and other SHI teams. Facilitate the development of new or improved technical processes and procedures to improve the quality of the data being captured or to capture additional data to support added market opportunities or to more efficiently process data to improve financial results of SHI ITAM operations. Provide a knowledge base of current technical information to support the sales, business development and license consulting teams. Track project issues and status with reporting to the project management team. Ensures all ITAM projects are conducted professionally, ethically, and in a manner consistent with SHI standards. Attend, supportand represent SHI at conferences and events. Uphold SHI's policies, values, commitments, reputationand goals. Develop and enforce the ITAM System Engineering team's standard operating procedures and processes. Maintain SHI's technical capabilities to conduct ITAM data gathering by managing the group's personnel and the group's technology, hardwareand software assets. Provide the best customer service experience possible in all our customer interactions. Resolve issues that arise with customers. Evolve our technology to improve service and expand our offerings. Support other SHI teams that we routinely work with or that can benefit from our knowledge and experience. Support the development and advancement of ITAM System Engineering team members. Seek opportunities to provide additional services to customers. Qualifications Possess a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience as well as a minimum of 3 years of managerial experience leading a technical/system engineer/ or networking team. Experience with and knowledge of non-windows platforms such as UNIX/Linux, HPUX, AIX, Solaris, MAC OS etc. Experience with virtualisation platforms such as VMware, Citrix, App-V and Terminal Services Required Skills The position requires a detailed knowledge of all aspects of the IT life-cycle including licensing, purchasing, deploying, tracking, reporting, decommissioning, and harvesting software and hardware assets. The candidate must have technical experience and deep supporting knowledge of IT infrastructure, servers, personal workstations, supporting networks, databases and storage devices. Strong Knowledge of and experience with domain administration (Active Directory, group policies, etc.). Knowledge of and experience with operating system administration (registry, permissions, etc.). Administration of LANs, WANs and internet/intranet networks, network connectivity troubleshooting, ping, tracert, telnet. Investigating, diagnosing and resolve all network problems Skilled knowledge of database systems, Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Microsoft Server usage and language (read, understand SQL scripts) Scripting methodologies skills in order to increase automation of administrative and discovery functions; experience in writing Windows PowerShell scripts Expert knowledge of software inventory systems (like JDisc, SCCM, Altiris, IBM Bigfix etc) Strong entrepreneurial spirit; a desire and willingness to "do whatever it takes"; Client-oriented, professional services mind-set; Ability to manage several projects simultaneously Good research skills and the ability to manage details; Good analytical skills; Good written and verbal communication skills; A second language (preferably French or Spanish) will be an advantage; Excellent organization and time management skills; Ability to think outside the box; Ability to stay self-motivated and self-directed; Willingness to adapt to changing business and technical priorities; Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-performance team environment; Proven experience in ITAM in a similar or same field Ability to manage multiple projects Ability to create high-quality documentation with precision Ability to work with deadlines Meticulous attention to detail Highly organized and methodical Certifications Required The candidate will be required to be certified in the first 6 certifications listed below; if the candidate is not currently certified in at least three of the topics, they are required to study and pass a minimum of three of the following accreditations within 120 days of commencing the role. The supplemental certifications are a plus.
