Job Overview

Introduction

Sterling Technology Solutions was established in 2003 to manage IT for small to medium sized businesses in North and South Carolina, primarily in the Charlotte metro area. We are considered an MSP or Managed Services Provider. We are looking to fill a full-time position of Primary Engineer.

Primary Engineer Duties and Responsibilities

The Primary Engineer (PE) will manage and facilitate the completion of Customer support requests. The Primary Engineer will manage the Customers' expectations throughout the process and strive to maintain high customer satisfaction levels. The support delivery area helps shape the other delivery areas via their feedback. The Primary Engineer will build a relationship with the client and be their advocate within Sterling Technology. On any given day, you may perform a variety of tasks, such as:

Accurately and timely updating time entries and ticket notes in ticketing system

Managing tickets assigned in order and timely manner

Perform scheduled or reactive onsite service calls.

Provide scheduled or reactive remote support services.

Advise and train Customers on how to use information technology.

Analyze and solve various IT problems.

Install and troubleshoot Customers' IT hardware and software.

Provide regular ticket reviews and reporting to the Service Manager and VP of Operations as required.

Provide continuous feedback on; recurring customer issues, customer dissatisfaction, process inefficiencies, lack of documentation to the other delivery areas as required.

Maintain high positive Customer and user satisfaction and relationships.

Implement, participate and promote Quality Assurance (QA) objectives, processes, and procedures of the Company.

Conduct thorough checking and self-checking of information and documentation.

Keep documentation accurate and in good order.

Assist in the training, mentoring, and development of staff.

Perform general office duties as required.

Liaising with, managing, and advising customers, other consultants, and contractors and attending meetings as required.

Perform other appropriate duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Service Manager.

Adopt continuous learning and improvement processes in all aspects of the position.

Primary Engineer Technical Skills

Extensive proficiency with information technology regarding both hardware and software. In depth knowledge of Microsoft server and desktop operating systems.

Microsoft Server Operating Systems: 2008 to most current version

Microsoft Desktop Operating Systems: Windows 7 to most current version

Microsoft Office 2010 to most current version

Microsoft Exchange 2010 to most current version

Microsoft Office 365

Active Directory

Basic networking knowledge

Desktop and server hardware, desktop peripherals, printers

Mobile devices running iOS, Android, and Windows Mobile

Advanced to intermediate level knowledge of the Microsoft business stack, network infrastructure, and related technologies.

Primary Engineer Skills and Qualifications

To perform your various duties, a Primary Engineer must exhibit many varied skills and qualifications. At the core, the Primary Engineer is a reactive support position. Communication and attention to detail are paramount in this role. A few of the specific skills that all Primary Engineers should include:

ThePrimary Engineer will need to travel to the Customer's sites and require a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Primary Engineers must make independent decisions daily, addressing the best way to handle specific tasks. Able to work well both within a team environment and autonomously.

A Primary Engineer must collaborate with other engineers, 3rd party vendors, management, and clients regularly.
