Job Description

The Project Engineer primary responsibilities include working inside a defined team to turn all levels of projects on a large and small scale. They also function as escalation points on an as needed basis. They are led by a Project Manager who involves Project Engineers as early as the pre-sales engineering stages and through the completion stage. The ideal candidate is highly focused, comfortable in a fast-paced environment, and has excellent listening and critical thinking skills. Our primary office hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm with a one-hour lunch break each day.

Requirements:


Works with Project Manager at all stages of the project. Pre-sales engineering, Planning, Implementation, and Completion stages.

Participate in weekly Work in Progress calls/meetings. During the WIP meetings they are expected to have a strong pulse on On-track/Off-track status, obstacles threating on-time completion, scope-creep and need for change orders.

Participate in Project Postmortem meetings with Project Manager. Have a good pulse on what went Right/Wrong and Recommended changes moving forward, if any.

Submit daily time entries and updates on active projects as you work them in ConnectWise.

Document key infrastructure changes as they happen during a project using IT glue and ConnectWise.

Effectively identify changes in scope of work and escalate them to the Project Coordinator.

Be willing to respond afterhours as needed.

Use all company tools to perform your job efficiently. (IT glue, ConnectWise, AUVIK, LabTech, etc.)

Respond to escalation requests from Project Manager in a manner that matches the necessary urgency of the escalated issue.

Stay current with technology and best practices to more effectively engineer solutions for all different types of infrastructures.

Assist Sales team when needed for high level technical customer meetings (This will be coordinated through the Project Manager)

Desired Skills & Experience

Project Engineer must have the following skills, abilities, and qualifications:

Must have in-depth knowledge of the following:

o 4-7 years of hands-on experience Server Implementation and Server Migrations.

o Extensive knowledge of mainstream virtualization technologies and 3-5 years of hands-on experience migrating between them.

o Support services for Microsoft related technologies: Windows Desktop, Windows Server, Exchange, SQL, Office 365 and Azure

o Extensive knowledge of Server Operating systems and best practice configurations as well as 4-7 years hands experience of deep troubleshooting in those environments.

o Understanding TCP/IP technologies such as DHCP, DNS, and related troubleshooting tools.

o Moderate to Extensive knowledge of networking infrastructure best practices. ex. VLAN, Firewall, switching, layer 3 routing and managed networking appliances.

o Able to deploy, upgrade, and troubleshoot firewalls, managed switches, wireless controllers and WAPs.

o Moderate knowledge of and 2-4 years hands on experience with Enterprise Backup solutions Ex. SAN's and on-premises and off-premises backup solutions.

Install, support, and maintain hardware and software infrastructures according to best practices.

Must demonstrate the ability to design solutions for a broad array of infrastructures while maintaining best practices.

Must have Two current mainstream certifications or the equivalent skillset. Ex. MCSE Server Track 2012 or newer, VCP, CCNA, etc.

Must thrive in a team environment and demonstrate the ability to effectively coach your fellow teammates up.
