JOB/POSITION TITLE:
IT Customer Support Specialist
DEPARTMENT NAME:

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the immediate supervision of the Manager of IT System Engineering, the Customer Support Specialist performs front line computer support at the IT Help Desk. Answers word processing, spreadsheet, e-mail, and level one system questions. Logs trouble reports and assigns to appropriate IT staff member. Installs, troubleshoots, and maintains workstation hardware and software in order to provide optimal client systems. Performs hardware and software upgrades for all Authority workstations and peripherals. Manages the software deployment system for delivering new and updated applications as well as security patches to the operating system for all Authority workstations. Stays abreast of the latest security threats for workstations and recommends/manages patches to mitigate those threats. Performs configuration, setup, and routine maintenance for all Authority printers. Performs clerical work for the IT department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Answers the IT Help Desk phone and provides level one user support.
Logs and assigns problem reports to appropriate MIS staff member.
Maintains expert knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail software.
Maintains expert knowledge of workstation hardware and operating systems.
Manages the software deployment system
Performs both hardware and software upgrades on workstations.
Performs hardware and software trouble shooting and testing on Authority workstations.
Manages and provides training for mobile devices including phones and tablets.
Creates and submits RFQ's to vendors and analyzes results for purchasing PC hardware and client software.
Assists in the troubleshooting and repair of network cabling.
Contacts outside vendors to ensure stocking levels of computer and printer supplies.
Introduces new users to the company's workstation environment.
Maintains all computer backup processes and tape library.
Reconciles phone bills, processes, and tracks blanket purchase orders and maintains computer inventories.
Functions as liaison between users and IT.
Requires punctuality and regular attendance.
Supports the mission and goals of the RTA
Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Associate degree in Computer Science, Business, or related field.
• Three (3) years in IT/MIS related field with experience supporting workstation hardware and software.
• Previous work experience with Microsoft Office products is required.
• Experience with phone switch programming preferred but not required.

This is a non-exempt, pay grade 12 position with an initial salary hiring range of $43,358 (minimum) to $54,196 (midpoint), dependent on qualifications and experience.
