Job Summary
We are currently looking for a motivated, passionate, and dynamic candidate to serve in an IT Business Partner role to enable the business to achieve their objectives through the effective use of technology. This position will be based in our Montreal based office.
The IT Business Partner has the overall responsibility to serve as the strategic interface with their assigned business units for the purpose of business technology strategy development, solution discovery, service management, risk management and relationship management. As the IT Business Partner - Manufacturing, Engineering & HSE, you will proactively serve as a "trusted advisor" and be the primary point of contact to business line executives and managers in the Manufacturing, Engineering and Health & Safety areas. You will be responsible for the management of the business demand for IT from the Manufacturing, Engineering & HSE teams, and outline solutions and roadmaps, working closely with the business stakeholders. The IT BP helps evaluate and manage the impacts of changes to process and resources on the technology, and vice versa.
You will act as a strategic liaison and counsellor between IT and the business, analyzing business stakeholder needs and opportunities, and translating them into business and technical requirements. This position must understand business strategies and goals and develop necessary designs and plans to implement required manufacturing and operations solutions. Proactively understands business pain points and opportunities and proposes process optimization and technology solutions to address (people, process, and technology). Ensures that IT is focused on the highest priority technology initiatives to advance business strategies and critical business goals. This individual must intimately understand the business strategy, business model(s), business processes, how the business unit makes money, external customer experiences, and more. The IT Business Partner proactively proposes "What If" business scenarios, painting pictures of improved future states and the art of the possible. Partners with manufacturing/operations leadership in writing business cases for technology investments and ensuring that the anticipated business value is realized post go-live. Collaborates with other IT staff to ensure interoperability aimed at enabling end-to-end "hire" to "retire" processes.
As a people manager, you will manage your assigned direct reports (i.e., Business Analysts), support an environment that attracts, retains, and grows IT talent to ensure seamless succession and growth for the department.
Primary Activities and Responsibilities:
Overall responsibility for serving as the strategic interface between manufacturing/Engineering/HSE operations and IT for the purpose of technology strategy development, business solution discovery and deployment, relationship management, risk management and service management.
Leverage knowledge of the business, industry, and leading-edge technological solutions to transform the way the business operates and provides services to its customers.
Understand the future state strategic needs/goals and current state capabilities across the company and determine how to close the gaps adopting a people, process and technology approach.
Serve as the trusted advisor and internal business consultant to manufacturing/engineering/HSE leadership in determining business solutions required to achieve business goals and objectives. Lead initiatives that result in new and better ways of doing business.
Recommend strategies to optimize/standardize/automate business processes to enable improved business/operational execution, an improved external customer experience, and increased end user productivity in the achievement of business goals.
Lead and coach direct reports to lead process improvement workshops, document current and future state processes and procedures, and ensure manufacturing/engineering/HSE staff is fully informed/trained on business process and technology.
Partner with application and infrastructure teams to lead technology implementations and enhancements and roll-up sleeves as needed.
Acts as a relationship manager, build strong collaborative relationships with business stakeholders and IT service owners, including IT BPs, Application Delivery Managers, Infrastructure Managers and PMO
Lead direct reports to collaborate closely with Functional Managers, Super Users (SUs) and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in defining personas/stories (use cases), and business requirements - all required for inputs to plan IT initiatives.
Collaborate with the IT staff and 3rd party technology providers to resolve issues with the MES, ERP, WMS, CMMS, and other related software applications.
Research and evaluate industry trends, best practices, new technologies, and improvements or new releases to our current installed base
Collaborate closely with business and IT stakeholders to plan and implement solutions.
Collaborate with the manufacturing/engineering/HSE team to design and deploy process optimizations and information technology solutions.
Works with the manufacturing/engineering/HSE to plan and make sure they understand the relevance and impact of IT changes to their operations.
Help stakeholders develop proposals and advance them through the project intake and assessment process.
Understand how services and capabilities currently offered by IT can be put to best use and create value for the business.
Work collaboratively with business stakeholders to define and prioritize technology initiatives (new or enhanced services) that will bring the most business benefit.
Liaise with vendors and service providers to select the products or services that best meet company goals in collaboration with the IT and Business Leadership.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Engineering, Operational Management, or another relevant discipline for the manufacturing and supply chain industry.
Minimum of 5 years' work experience in manufacturing/operations solutioning and business analysis for a manufacturing and supply chain company.
Minimum of 5 years' work experience in hands-on technical leadership, project management, process development/improvement and resource management.
Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Maintenance and Quality systems, CMMS and related manufacturing technologies is an asset.
Experience with data management and business intelligence applications is an asset.
Demonstrated knowledge of strategic use of technology to optimize business objectives.
Superior analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
Proven project management and change management experience.
Proven experience facilitating identification of creative solutions.
Proven experience conducting business analysis and soliciting, understanding, and verifying business requirements.
