Position Summary
The Green Bison Soy Processing LLC plant is seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Electrical Technician to be involved in the day to day instrument and electrical operational activities of the Spiritwood, ND complex. The plant processes soybeans into oil, meal, pellets and byproducts.
Responsibilities:
Plan daily maintenance activities and provide "kits" for each job
Recommend changes, modifications or up-grades of equipment to better operations
Read equipment drawings and documents
Written and Oral communication between operations, engineering and maintenance
Proactively participate in plant safety and quality programs.
Assist in developing & complying with safety, environmental, quality and production procedures / policies.
Install, maintain and repair plant instrumentation, computers, and electrical, electronic and pneumatic control equipment.
Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair plant electronic and pneumatic systems, facility computers, process control equipment and instrumentation.
Install, maintain and repair electrical components such as rotating electrical equipment, meters, motor controllers, switchgear, and battery systems as required.
Install and calibrate instrumentation and control systems.
Troubleshoot electrical systems, circuit analysis, AC/DC motor power and control methods, flow meters, pH meters, bindicators, scales and controllers
Install and maintain temperature and pressure transmitters
Preventive and predictive maintenance
Troubleshoot and maintain electrical distribution and controls (5kV, 480V )
Installation, validation, verification, preventive maintenance and repairs on the CEMS (Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems)
Maintains relevant KPIs to measure success
Uses Performance Excellence tools to drive continuous improvement in the facility.
The employee will work in a plant environment and is expected to initiate work based on general instructions. The physical requirements of the job requires ability to climb stairs, lifting up to 55 lbs, prolonged periods of standing and sitting, computer work, meeting deadlines, providing calculated information, working in confined spaces and from heights, bending, kneeling, working adjusted hours, and working as instructed. Prompt attendance is a must.
Required Experience and Skills:
The Instrumentation Technician position requires at least two years of experience in an industrial setting. The candidate must have excellent time management and organization skills. Make decisions with limited experience/knowledge to plan and accomplish goals. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Strong mechanical skills, working knowledge of manual and powered tools, trouble shooting and the ability to plan procedures for completing a task. The candidate shall possess good leadership skills, able to work under time constraints, adaptable, have a high attention to detail and quality, and the desire to learn. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is essential. The person shall possess a strong work ethic.
Minimum of 2+ years' of industrial production and/or construction instrumentation experience.
Technical aptitude in instrumentation, electrical, and control systems.
Demonstrated participation in plant safety programs.
Experience/knowledge of AD/DC circuit theory.
Experience/knowledge of process instruments.
Experience/knowledge of electrical safety devices and requirements.
Prompt and consistent self-starter with ability to manage deadlines while juggling multiple tasks.
Excellent communication skills - both oral and detailed written are needed to be effective in this position.
Strong interpersonal skills are necessary to effectively interact with multiple employees, management personnel, and other stakeholders. Interpersonal skills employed include handling conflict; explaining problems and potential corrective actions for processes in a fair, honest, and direct way.
The candidate must be able to utilize independent judgment to solve problems, have excellent organizational skills, and strive for continuous improvement.
Ability and willingness to travel as required for training.
Basic computer knowledge.
Knowledge of production plant equipment and their interaction with process controls & instrumentation.
Familiarity with various electrical classifications including: Class 1 Division 1 Group B (Hydrogen); Class 1 Division 1 Group D (Alcohols), Including intrinsically safe wiring systems.
Knowledge of HART instrumentation protocol.
Familiarity with D3, Allen Bradley, & Modicon controls equipment.
