As the Industrial Hygienist Student, you will provide Industrial Hygiene field support to the mining operations and fixed plants at the Base Plant Oil Sands or Syncrude Fort McMurray sites. Moreover, you will have the opportunity to support the various aspects of the Industrial Hygiene business within the Industrial Hygiene Team.
Minimum Requirements:
Current enrollment in a relevant undergraduate Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental or Sciences (Kinesiology, Ergonomics, Biology, Chemistry, etc.) program at an accredited postsecondary institution
You must be returning to full-time studies after the work term

Responsibilities:
Perform field inspections and audit the field effectiveness of Industrial Hygiene Programs including but not limited to Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), Hearing Conservation Program (HCP), Asbestos Program, and Respiratory Protection Equipment (RPE) Standard
Maintain Industrial Hygiene equipment
Conduct surveys, enter data in company databases, perform statistical analysis and write technical reports (asbestos, mold, heat stress, legionella, noise, lighting, ergonomics, ventilation, welding, hydrocarbons, silica, NORM, etc.)
Assist in designing, developing or presenting industrial hygiene training materials, and assist with the development of documentation such as written programs, safe work instructions, and standards
Location and Other Key Details:
This is an 8 or 12 month work term starting in January 2023
You will work out of our Base Plant Mine or Syncrude location in Fort McMurray, Alberta
Some of our student positions are safety sensitive
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
