Our greatest asset has been, and will continue to be, our people. We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of HSE Lead - Surface Operations in our US Onshore Resources & Carbon Management (ORCM), HSE EOR Business Unit based in Midland, TX.
The HSE Lead will support operations to assure optimization of HSE performance through evaluation of BU incident statistics and trends, participating with HSE Network, implementation of standards, contractor management and development of best practices. The position will integrate HSE practices and performance standards into daily operations and cross-functional teams, and will mentor/coach others and demonstrate safe work practices to convey Oxy's safety commitment for our operations.
Roles and Responsibilities:
BS in Safety, Fire Protection, Engineering, Science or related discipline preferred
Professional/Technical Knowledge:
5 years of relevant experience in the oil/gas industry. Preferred Permian Basin direct work experience. Minimum of 5-8 years of HSE-related experience.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Supervises direct report, manages performance, compensation, development, and mentors staff.
- Ensure policies, procedures, and processes are understood and followed in the Operations teams.
- Provide inspection and audit support of contractor safety programs (BBS, VSP, WMP, etc.) and activities, as required.
- Collect and report on contractor incident statistics (leading/lagging).
- Assist in the organization and facilitation of, and attend, key peer assists, peer reviews, and risk assessments, as requested.
- Conduct regular site visits and assessments.
- Communicate Oxy HSE standards/best practices to the BU operations group and contractors.
- Assist, or lead, investigations of important incidents, as requested.
- Keep current on processes and technologies that will help Oxy maintain a best-in-class safety performance position.
- Provide orientation support for new hires.
- Direct interaction with contractors developing safety improvement opportunities to drive contractor's performance to an Incident Free Operation.
- Participate in area industry safety groups; e.g. IADC, AESC, ASSE, etc.
- Communicate regularly with other BU HSE to ensure the lines of communication remain open between operations and drilling functions.
