Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Drive Accelerated Sales Growth
- Actively identify and call on fruit & vegetable growers to communicate the value of our Crop Protection clients' new innovations, focusing on the benefits of our client's products and services.
- Develop a value-based sales strategy for each customer to support his or her unique needs, interests and business goals and objectives resulting in customized solutions.
- Meet or exceed pre-determined innovation sales goals with grower customer base.
- Call on retailers who sell BASF horticultural products to develop sales forecasts, deliver market letters and offer business and technical support to field staff
Innovation Leadership
- Partner with technical development specialists, area sales teams, retailers and channel partners to be the growers' innovation product expert.
- Develop business tactics that meet the needs of targeted growers.
- Educate growers on the use of new innovations.
- Position new innovations and communicate value messages to targeted fruit & vegetable growers.
- Technically competent on brands and services.
- Develop grower plans with key growers.
Office & Work Environment
- Day to day decisions about activities in territory made in consultation with BASF Horticulture Sales Manager
- Decisions affecting long term plans and activities are coordinated with BASF Eastern Canada Sales Manager
- Frequent contact with customers, from purchaser to owner.
- Incumbent works out of home according to mutually agreed upon objectives and territory parameters.
- Office environment, sitting, daily regular use of computer.
- Extensive driving.
Requirements
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Science (such as Agronomy, Chemistry, Biology), Business or related field, or relevant work experience.
- Minimum of 2 - 5 years relative selling or technical background within an Ag related field such as chemical or crop consulting.
- Completion of Technical Training modules over 1 year, along with internal sales training.
- Proven success with large growers.
- Strong inter-personal and communication skills and the ability to develop strong, successful business relationships with customers as well as internal teammates.
- Ability to self-manage time and resources and to allocate time and energy appropriately, resulting in achievement of goals.
- Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as CRM database technology.
- Willingness to travel overnight/weekly.
- Passionate about making a difference in the agriculture industry.
- Fluent in English - written and spoken.
- Valid driver's license.
