The Highway Design Technician supports the design and production of transportation design projects that enhance the safety and quality of life of the travelling public and provides critical infrastructure for commerce and economic development of communities.
PEC's Transportation team provides a multitude of services including transportation planning, roadway and bridge design, traffic engineering and construction administration. This position requires formal training in CAD production and experience. Microstation and Bentley design products experience and familiarity with DOT formats is preferred. The position requires the ability to use the drafting tools to their full capabilities for intended day-to-day use, an understanding of the design process to gather, manipulate, and store project information in a repeatable and efficient manner, and knowledge of the workings of the CAD design/ drafting software to standardize our methods and increase efficiency and productivity. The Technician works with the Team Leader, Project Managers and Engineers to prepare the working design drawings and the final construction drawings, and to gather, organize, archive, and retrieve project information.

Job Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of CAD production software
- Familiarity with Microstation/Bentley design products and DOT formats is a plus
- Ability to read and understand plans
- Understand and meet critical deadlines through efficient time management
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of conventional field surveys, notes and processing of electronic field data is a plus
