Description:

The Heavy Equipment Service Technician employee will perform repair work and maintenance for DHT's heavy equipment, consisting of off-road trucks, excavators, bulldozers, front loaders, skid steer and various other types of heavy machinery used in the excavation industry. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will diagnose equipment faults and perform scheduled maintenance and repairs.

Heavy Equipment Service Technician Essential Duties:

• Consults with Excavation Manager to collect information on equipment history, any problems with the equipment, and/or known maintenance or repairs required
• Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains construction equipment and heavy equipment
• Diagnoses faults and malfunctions of equipment
• Identifies mechanical problems visually and/or with computer or shop provided diagnostic equipment
• Estimates repair timeline and provides Managers with time estimates
• Performs diagnostics on specific components and systems to determine proper component/system operation
• Tests repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications
• Performs routine and preventive maintenance in accordance with equipment manufacturers maintenance/service schedule
• Cleans, lubricates, and performs other routine maintenance work on equipment
• Conducts appropriate post service inspections for correct repair and operation of the task at hand
• Reads and understands operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings

Heavy Equipment Service Technician Job Requirements:

• Heavy Equipment diagnostic/repair experience
• Diesel engine diagnostic/repair experience
• Transmission diagnostics/repair experience
• Differential diagnostics/repair experience
• Hydraulic experience
• Pneumatic valving experience

Heavy Equipment Service Technician Preferred Requirements:

• 2 years' experience

Heavy Equipment Service Technician Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift a minimum of 35 pounds
• Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections
• Must have enough vision to inspect repair work
• Must be able to use/operate hand tools, power tools, and other heavy machinery
• Must be able to stand or crouch for long periods of time
• Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screen
