Job Overview

Adams Land & Cattle has a leadership opportunity at our South and East Feedlots in Broken Bow, Nebraska. This individual would be responsible for executing pen rebuild/maintenance strategy and providing overall leadership of our heavy equipment work group.

This person will be responsible for:

Supporting/driving the overall safety strategy of the company.

Providing overall leadership of the Heavy Equipment work group, including pen rebuild/maintenance activities, pond cleaning, fuel delivery, and managing various other projects and seasonal activities specific to the work group.

Supporting the development of the pen rebuild/maintenance strategy and managing the execution of the strategy.

Managing regulatory/compliance activities related to pen containment, drainway maintenance and Progressive Beef Compliance.

Driving a culture with focus on effective equipment maintenance.

Supporting any/all efforts needed during storm recovery, including oversight and execution of daily recovery efforts. Recognizing that weather conditions may require constant change in activities and that cattle comfort is first and foremost regarding this activity.

Cost center accountability, including assisting with budget development, approving invoices, leading a culture of planning and prioritization, including utilization of cost/benefits analysis.

Training and developing employees to be effective, efficient and versatile.

Driving a culture of safety, animal welfare and continuous improvement across work group.

Ideal candidate would possess the following qualifications:

Demonstration of leadership and excellent communication skills

Demonstration of skills, knowledge, and experience in pen manure management and pen maintenance

Mechanically inclined with working knowledge of large diesel-powered equipment

Minimum of four (4) years of experience in heavy equipment operations. Experience in feedlot operations is a plus. Ability and willingness to learn and operate multiple pieces of equipment as needed to support the team

Basic technical skills for computers and GPS operated equipment

Proficient in routine and preventive maintenance of equipment.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Ability to use analytical techniques for problem solving, coordination and decision-making.

Bachelor's degree preferred; can substitute 2 years of related experience with Associate's Degree or 4 years of experience with High School Diploma.

This position requires:

Exerting 50-100 pounds of force occasionally. Standing, sitting, walking, and reaching/handling/grasping frequently; carrying, lifting/lowering, pushing/pulling, bending, twisting, stairs, and kneeling/crouching occasionally; climbing and crawling rarely.

Individual must be able to work in adverse weather conditions if needed.

Able to travel overnight up to 10% of the time.

Available by phone 100% of the time.

Compensation Details:

$75,000 - 90,000 annual salary
