Job Summary BHE GT&S is seeking an exciting Gas Transmission Designer or Sr. Gas Transmission Designer commensurate on selected candidate's skills and abilities. The position can sit at either SC Greystone Office or White Oaks General Office Building. Regular travel will be required if the selected candidate sits at White Oaks General Office Building. Relocation assistance for this position is available dependent upon eligibility requirements. BHE GT&S is an interstate natural gas transmission and storage company headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, that became a standalone subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Energy in November 2020. Designs and drafts complex engineering design concepts into working drawings in order to facilitate the construction and installation of facilities. Provides technical guidance and assistance to Designers ensuring the accuracy, timeliness of completed drawings including the development and maintenance of drafting support software. Maintains and updates DOT databases including the pipeline DOT class location studies. Works independently with a limited degree of supervision. May provide guidance or act as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience. Flexible work arrangements including hybrid or compressed schedules may be available and are not guaranteed. Responsibilities include: Develop timely, complete and accurate sets of drawings for proposed, expanded or modified corporate facilities. Review drawings to determine compliance with applicable codes and company standards. Develop timely, complete and accurate drawings for new or modified office layouts. Develop efficient computer applications for the Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) system. Develop and maintain drafting support software for the CADD system. Review design concepts and perform job-related calculations to ensure accuracy. Coordinate drawing documentation by maintaining drawing files and indexes. Coordinate and maintain DOT databases Perform other duties as requested or assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience Gas Transmission Designer: 1-3 years of AutoCAD experience is required. Sr Gas Transmission Designer: 5+ years of AutoCAD experience is required. BOTH: Experience with 3D drawings or modeling. Experience with natural gas pipeline and compressor station design Strong math skills, including geometry, trigonometry and higher mathematics in order to perform calculations. Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical, structural and electrical engineering design drafting principles. Knowledge of national gas codes, Pipeline Safety Regulations and related codes and standards. Excellent planning and organizational skills and ability to work independently. Ability to size and design structural steel and reinforced concrete components. Ability to develop applications for the CADD system. Strong communication skills and ability to develop rapport with internal and external customers. Strong computer skills, including the CADD system.
