The City of Attleboro seeks a Gardener/Laborer II for the Department of Parks and Forestry department who, under the direction of the working foreman, performs skilled manual duties in the planting, caring for, and maintenance of City property. Duties include maintain gardens, shrubs, lawns, flowers, trees and other plants. Performs routine manual labor tasks in connection with maintenance care, upkeep, repair, marking and beautification of City property such as trimming and removing trees, cutting grass, weeds and brush; assisting the spraying for insects and vegetation; cleaning culverts, loading and unloading truck and cars. Sweeps sidewalks, rakes lawns, hauls debris, cleans public areas and operates lawn equipment and other tools. May supervise a small crew of lower level employees engaged in these tasks. Ability to perform heavy manual labor under adverse conditions for extended periods. Related work as required.
Must possess and maintain a valid CDL class B (or obtain within 6 months).
40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, at the discretion of the superintendant. (Hours subject to change or extension). Works in snow and ice program. During inclement weather, hours of work may be extended.
