Job Overview

This is a Flagger/Traffic Control position working with an oil and gas distribution construction crew. Flaggers will be performing traffic control on closed roadways, detours, and one way traffic using a slow and stop sign. They have a lot of different sectors of construction such as broadband, oil and gas, pipeline integrity, renewable gas and electric so although you start on an oil and gas crew there are opportunities to move to other sectors once you become a permanent employee after the 90 day contract period. _This is an opportunity to get into a skilled trade career without going to trade school, so if you are someone who likes to learn on the job and not in the classroom then the Flagger position is right up your alley!_ A Typical Day and Hours: After the first two days of class room training/orientation you will be given the job site location that you will be required to show up for your first day in the field. Once you show up to job site you will meet with the team & have a morning safety meeting with the foreman and crew. Usually you will work from 7am-5pm but may work late or leave early some days. They average about 40-50 hours a week and NO WEEKENDS. You will also receive a break every 2 hours (10-15 minutes) and have a 30 minute to 1 hour lunch break, depending on the crew. _EVERYDAY you will be outside working in the elements. THIS IS NOT A SEASONAL JOB, so all year around you will work outside, in the heat, rain, snow and cold._ They will send a crew home for lightning or severe weather but plan on being there at least 7am-5pm Mon-Fri regardless of weather. Pay : $18/hr. to start then after the 90 day contract period you will be given a performance review. As long as there are no attendance or performance issues then you will become a permanent employee with the company and will receive an immediate raise to $19.77/hr. as well as the other benefits listed below. _WEEKLY_ _PAY EVEN ONCE YOU GO PERMANANT_ Benefits: + After 90 days you will be in the union and receive full union benefits + Health, Dental & Vision insurance + Almost 20 days of PTO not including paid holidays + Pension plan for retirement + Paid on the job training + Promote from within the company + Great professional development + Tuition Reimbursement + "Break Coordinator" they have someone who drives around to each job site to ensure you and your crew are getting proper breaks and lunches Must Haves: + RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION You are expected to drive yourself to the job site everyday, this is not a job where you go to the same place each day. You may be on a specific job site for 3 days to 2 weeks (job sites are not assigned based on where you live), once the job is over you will be given a new assignment and your next job site location. It is rare but there may be days where you work multiple job sites in the KC Metro area. + Steel Toes are REQUIRED + Ability to work outside in the elements all year. + Ability to stand for 8 hours a day. + RELIABILITY. The Flagger position is an essential part of the construction crew. In order to work they need to have a Flagger on site helping to keep them safe, so it is imperative you are at your scheduled shifts in order to avoid deadline delays. They understand that life happens and will be flexible and work with you on time off for last minute emergencies and such is not a habit. Any paid time off with be honored as long as it is is scheduled in advance. What happens once you get the job: 1. You will receive onboarding paperwork, must be willing to submit to drug screen and background. 2. Once you are cleared, you will be enrolled in the ATSSA online flagger course. It is a 4 hour PAID online course that is REQUIRED to be completed before starting your first day. (Course is paid at $8.50/hr. and will be on your second pay check) 3. Orientations are every Monday so you _must complete all onboarding, drug screen, and_ _background_ _BEFORE noon on the THURSDAY before you start_ because on Friday you will do a 15-20 minute meet & greet with the Superintendent. In the meet & greet he will go over expectations, tell you about the company and position details, what to expect the first week and then answer any questions you may have,. ( _This will be at the Grandview, MO office_ ) 4. Again the ATSSA 4 hour training video MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO STARTING MONDAY but you are not expected to complete it before the meet & greet Friday. 5. Once you start you will spend the first two days in orientation at their corporate office in Lenexa, KS. The main office is in Grandview where you will do the meet & greet but training is in Lenexa, KS for the first two days. 6.
