Definition This is a full-time (Administrative Support Workers) position in the Fire Department that works in conjunction with the Development Services Department, Permits and Inspections Division. An individual in this position will request, process and respond to customer's requests for permits and similar City services. Reporting relationship: Division Chief of Prevention Examples of Work Provide customer service by answering phones; provide information as requested; collect and process payments; respond to requests for information; Perform clerical duties including but not limited to data entry; create and maintain project files; fax or email information; and run various reports; Prepare and issue permits and licenses upon approval; Schedule and coordinate pre-construction meetings; Schedule and coordinate inspections; Prepare and submit monthly permit status reports; Provide support and assistance to Permit Service Representative I as assigned; Perform other related duties as assigned; Subject to 24 hour recall. Education, Experience, or Certification High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) Certificate; a minimum of two (2) years professional experience in a government permit granting agency or closely related field; and a current Permit Technician Certification from the International Code Council (ICC) required. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred. Supplemental Information The Department of Human Resources & Organizational Development may consider an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
