Position Description: The Dean's Office of the College of Engineering seeks culturally and professionally diverse candidates to apply for the Finance Technician position. Since its inception in 1996, the Virginia Commonwealth University College of Engineering has brought innovative, real-world engineering education to Central Virginia. Comprised of five different departments plus the Dean's office, the College of Engineering enrolls more than 1,700 undergraduate and 250 graduate students in several degree programs supported by approximately 550 full-time, part-time, and student employees. The Finance Technician will provide fiscal administrative support for the College of Engineering by preparing/processing procurement and travel/expense reimbursement needs in a timely manner within a team environment. This position will submit purchase orders through Real Source and create P-card purchases, plus reconcile purchases with proper documentation in a timely manner in Real Source and BOA Works. This position is part of the Engineering Finance unit, with a purpose of providing excellent customer service and support service to the research and instruction mission of the College. Minimum Qualifications: A high level of maturity, judgment and a proven record in an academic or related field is essential. This position requires an individual who possesses a composite set of skills including strong organizational skills, experience in sophisticated office systems, ability to multi-task, and demonstrated experience working with accounting or finances. Excellent customer service skills in dealing with faculty, staff, students, as well as outside constituents required.
