Job Overview
The Field Service Technician's primary function is to travel to customer sites to install and repair laser products. Additional responsibilities include training and providing technical support to customers.
Electronics background with some understanding of optics
Ability to interpret electrical schematics.
Ability to strip, cleave and splice optical fibers a plus.
Basic soldering skills and ESD awareness.
General knowledge of fiber optic components and test equipment is helpful.
Experience with optical and electrical test methods in support of active fiber devices such as fiber amplifiers and lasers.
Requirements:
ASEE, ASEO, Technical Schooling or equivalent experience desired.
Travel will be 80% locally (within 5 hour driving radius) and 20% nationally.
2-5 years experience preferred.
Excellent communications skills.
Excellent electrical/electronics troubleshooting skills.
Must understand manufacturing processes.
Ability to work independently in a professional environment.
Overtime is required. Saturday and Sunday may be required.
Must be computer literate.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22C.F.R. 120.15 are required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee. License exception Technology and software under restriction (TSR) defined in 15 CFR 740.6 may permit person from Country Group B.
