MountainWest Pipeline Services, Inc., MountainWest Southern Trails Pipeline Company and MountainWest Energy Services, Inc. collectively referred to hereinafter as "MountainWest Pipeline" or "MW" Job Summary This position will work in Price, Utah and will be filled at either the Field Operator I or Field Operator II position, depending on the successful candidate's knowledge, skill, ability, experience and education. Under the direction of a supervisor or qualified employee, installs, maintains, and operates pipelines and pipeline facilities, such as compressors, separators, line heaters, tankage, product loading facilities, pressure regulators, gas quality and measurement equipment, and other natural gas, transportation-related equipment. This position requires working at a PSM regulated facility and the ability to follow policies and procedures for a processing plant. Ensures pipeline and facilities are protected against damage from outside forces. Locates pipelines and associated equipment prior to, and during, excavation. Maintains accurate field records and reports for all equipment in work area. Under the direction of a supervisor or qualified employee, installs new equipment. Assists in compliance with all codes, standards, and permits regarding operation and maintenance of systems and facilities. Participates in process improvements, and solves problems effectively, as part of a team. Field Operator I Performs assignments designed to develop work knowledge, skills and abilities requiring application of policies, procedures, techniques and other criteria in carrying out all aspects of the job performs routine work assignments but over time will demonstrate the ability to perform more difficult work assignments. Works under established policies and procedures to meet set schedules and system or program requirements; continues to develop the knowledge, skills and abilities to reach a higher level of proficiency and work complexity. Field Operator II Proficiently performs assignments having the knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience needed to carry out all aspects of the job; exercises independent judgment and decision-making in planning, organizing, and conducting work assignments; may receive instructions and guidance on unusual or complex problems and knows when to get others involved; effectively utilizes the proper resources to develop solutions and devise new approaches to problems encountered in work assignments; identifies and eliminates unnecessary work and non-value-added activities. Jobs In Series: Field Operator I Field Operator II Field Operator III Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following: Field Operator I - 0-2 years related experience. Knowledge of, and ability to effectively use, modern technology, including laptop computers, desktop computers, smart phones, email, word processing, and online tools. Knowledge of basic math. Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment and comply with OSHA-required testing. Ability to develop knowledge and effectively follow company procedures, practices, regulations, requirements, and policies. Ability to develop knowledge of mechanical equipment used in the job, such as compressors, dehydrators, and separators. Ability to implement proper and safe use of hand tools and maintenance tools. Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing and work effectively with diverse teams. Ability to prioritize work effectively, and to make correct decisions under diverse circumstances. Ability to work independently, and within a diverse team. Ability to handle stressful and emergency situations, requiring the use of sight, hearing, and smell to safely navigate the workplace environment. Field Operator II - At least 4 years of related experience, that includes the knowledge, skills and abilities required of a Field Operator I. Ability to learn basic FERC regulations and necessary requirements. Ability to learn company Pipeline Tariff sections concerning gas quality requirements; ability to communicate, orally and in writing; ability to work effectively within a diverse team as well as work independently and prioritize work; ability to see objects at close range, at a distance and determine distance and relationship between objects; ability to detect burning materials, natural gas, and hazardous substances; ability to match or discriminate between colors; and ability to to hear equipment warning signals. Skill in using hand and maintenance tools; skill in effectively responding to stressful situations, and appropriately handling emergencies, which may include changing flat tires, chaining up vehicles, operating jacks, performing minor maintenance, and operating two-way radios. Education Requirements Required degree (equivalency not accepted in lieu of required degree): High School Diploma or GED Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description Working Conditions Office Work Environment Up to 25% Outdoors 26-50% Travel 26-50% Other Working Conditions Will be required to work on call, overtime, rotating shifts, overtime weekends and holidays; May be required to work 4/10 hour day work week. Required to drive a company vehicle, have a valid drivers license and have an acceptable driving record as well as become Department of Transportation (DOT) operator-qualified. Required to participate in random drug and/or alcohol testing, with satisfactory results, subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) and company requirements. Must be able to perform a variety of physically strenuous manual labor tasks which may include: using a shovel, climbing ladders and earthen inclines, accessing equipment above floor level, lifting, moving and carrying heavy objects such as large sacks of concrete mix, pavement breakers, large tools and work equipment, compressor parts, high pressure cylinders, etc. Test Description No Testing Required MountainWest Pipeline (formerly Dominion Energy Questar Pipeline, LLC) is an interstate natural gas pipeline company that provides transportation and underground storage services in Utah, Wyoming and Colorado.
