SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the applied research through the development of fiber-based sensing products integrated into the company's product line and establishing system requirements using off-the-shelf technologies to interrogate and collect sensing data from the fiber-sensing products. Must have experience in fiber optics, sensing level integration, interrogating, and extracting sensing data from the fiber optics, and developing system level requirements about the system.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Deep understanding of fiber optic sensor technologies and capabilities.

• Develop integration methods into the company's core product line in both an R&D environment and a product development process

• Ability to set up system options to collect sensor data from the fiber optic sensing technologies and communicate the information from the system.

• Establish requirements about the system to enable interfacing with third-party systems.

• Ability to create, optimize and evaluate design options with feature sets based on the fiber optic sensing technologies and system utilized.

• Ability to multi-task and handle multiple development projects and assignments.

• Ability to work under development deadlines.

• Ability to lead and execute projects and project deliverables.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• MS degree or higher in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering

• In-depth knowledge and experience in fiber optics sensing systems are required. At least 5-7 years of experience in the field.

• Experience with FO used in adverse environments desirable.

• Rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

• Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Able to take broad-scope requirements and reduce to practice applied research through product development

on new concepts and products.

• Good track record of success in solving the important and difficult problem
