Facility Maintenance Technician Duties and Responsibilities:
Performing routine maintenance around the building such as fixing structural damage, for example, dock doors, ceiling panels, or wall repair
Troubleshoot, adjust, and replace AC and DC electrical equipment such as controls, proximity sensors, fuses, motor starters, relays, switches, and timers
Fixing damaged electrical wiring when a shortage or severed wire occurs
Inspect, troubleshoot, repair and/or replace mechanical components such as motors, drive chains, sprockets, sheaves, pulleys, rollers, conveyor belts, bearings, and transfer plates
Maintaining the building HVAC equipment to keep climate control in the facility functioning properly
Spot painting the building when old paint has become faded or chipped
Perform preventative maintenance inspections of plant equipment such as conveyors, water heaters, HVAC, water pumps, heat exchangers, evaporators, fans and powered industrial equipment
Repairing broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of water fixtures
Adherence to the facility's Document Control Policy following completion of training
Must have flexibility with work schedule and job duties when the location environment changes
Follow health, safety, and cleanliness standards
Excellent attendance and punctuality for an hourly role
Handle any minor tasks related to the duties of the position
Forklift Maintenance Experience
Facility Maintenance Technician Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Two-year Associates' degree in electro-mechanical or electrical preferred
Two years' experience in facility maintenance role preferred
Electrical wiring skills to manage problems with the building's electricity
Basic Plumbing skills to address leaks, clogs or other drainage problems
Basic Carpentry skills to handle basic repairs around the building
Interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of employees and team members
Attention to detail to ensure that all jobs are completed in an exemplary manner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
Ability to communicate effectively in English
Ability to prioritize and perform position responsibilities accurately and to deadline
Facility Maintenance Technician Demands and Working Conditions:
This role operates in a wet and cold/refrigerated environment (between 38 and -20 degrees Fahrenheit) located within a manufacturing, warehousing, and production-type facility. Must be able to withstand cold temperatures for duration of shift.
Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds.
Work environment involves potential exposure to hazards or physical risks, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises which require following basic safety precautions
