Job Overview

We are currently searching for a Facilities Technician with a friendly attitude and the ability to multitask to serve as our front desk receptionist to manage the NIMH-wide administrative services for NIMH facilities, property, and space teams. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Rockville, MD.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Track order, delivery and placement of materials and equipment into the building and all laboratories.
  • Dispatch messages/calls for repairs and requests; prepare service tickets.
  • Prepare and enter work orders and maintenance orders.
  • Track and dispatch work to correct queues according to established procedures and priority table.
  • Receive and coordinate work orders for facility repairs.
  • Verify that space assignments match the current use of space in labs and administrative offices.
  • Work with staff on tracking requests for new space or change in space assignment using a software program.
  • Maintain inventories of all space assignments and produce reports.
  • Prepare, maintain and update databases, spreadsheets and status reports to indicate space use types and square footage.
  • Update database and track items according to established procedures.
  • Work with staff to determine and implement location of emergency phones.
  • Interface with the occupants to ensure that reported facilities issues are addressed and remedied.
  • Contribute toward overall office operational needs by helping to provide phone coverage, as well as providing administrative support related to maintaining facility management operations as necessary.
  • Greeting people entering the NIMH space, answering any questions, providing directions and alerting staff when someone is there to meet or visit them.
  • Enter NIMH staff maintenance requests. Provide information and guidance to all aspects of the process to ensure clear communication and successful completion of stated objectives.
  • Provide comprehensive daily operational oversight and monitoring of facility for the NIMH (Conference rooms and office space).
  • Serve as a liaison and point of contact for staff and visitors to the space.
  • Prioritize facility requirements to ensure organizational goals are met.
  • Accept deliveries and mail, organize items to be distributed and ensure they get to the correct recipient in a timely manner while also managing outgoing mail and packages for pickup.
  • Coordinate online, phone and in-person room reservations for conference rooms and workstations.
  • Provide guidance and parking validation stickers to visitors.
  • Provide support to NIMH facilities, property, and space teams.
  • Assist staff with the special events such as conferences.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in General Business or similar disclipline
  • At least 1 years of experience
