Facility Services is seeking two Facilities Maintenance-Operations Engineers (FMOE) to operate and maintain building equipment. This will include operation and maintenance in plumbing, district utilities, pumps, air handler units, exhaust fans, generators, underground storage tanks, building automation systems, and computerized maintenance management systems.
Location and hours:
These positions are located at the Hennepin County Forensic Sciences Building at 530 Chicago Avenue, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55415, and at the Hennepin County Behavioral Health Center at 1800 Chicago Ave, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55404. The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., but may vary depending on availability. These positions require to be on an on-call rotation and/or respond to after hour calls, including weekends, and holidays.

In these positions, you will:
Operate, repair, maintain, and diagnose building systems and equipment such as; plumbing, district utilities, heat pumps, heat exchangers, water heaters, HVAC control systems, Building Automation Systems (BAS), Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems including chillers, package and split A/C units, compressors, pneumatics, direct digital controls, emergency generators, circulating pumps, plumbing, and fan units.
Perform and develop preventative maintenance programs, procedures, and repair of grounds equipment.
Respond to requests and coordinate repairs to building systems and equipment.
Read construction documents and specifications, shop drawings, operations, and maintenance manuals.
Respond to building emergencies and after hour calls for repair.
Maintain and prepare reports and logs (e.g. preventative maintenance reports, work order reports, boiler operations logs, and fuel).
Work with and provide contractors/vendors oversight and in many cases, escorted access into secure areas.
Interact positively with the public and user groups daily.
Need to have:
One of the following:
Three years or more of one or a combination of the following that equals three years or more:
Skilled mechanical and facilities maintenance experience that includes: heating ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical and boiler, operation, maintenance and repair work.
Vocational-technical program course work in air conditioning/refrigeration/heating, electrical maintenance and boiler control, operation and maintenance.
Completion of the Project for Pride in Living (PPL)/Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC)/Hennepin County Building Operations Technician (BOT) Pathway training program and one year of the required experience.
A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a Hennepin County driver's permit.
A First Class C boiler engineer's license, or the ability to obtain one within six months of hire (Behavioral Health Center only).
Ability to:
Lift and carry up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
Climb and stand on ladders for prolonged periods of time to perform maintenance on building systems or equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Pass the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office advanced background check. This can take 4-8 weeks from the start of the process (job offer).

Experience:
Working in a secured facility.
Working with door locks and basic plumbing.
Working with irrigation systems.
Troubleshooting and repairing a wide range of equipment and building systems.
Skill in operating BAS, fire protection systems, VAV, and Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems.
Basic understanding of water treatment for HVAC systems.
