Facilities Engineering Lead

Purpose:

In our Location 360 team we believe that the location of things, and the relationships between them in time and space, are of fundamental importance to creating transformational digital products. We are passionate about enabling teams to seamlessly incorporate spatial and location data into their applications, analyses, operations and models. We do this by ingesting and stewarding much of the location related data for Bayer Crop Science, by integrating models that enrich that data, and by building platforms and interfaces that make it easy for teams to integrate that data into their work. We are hiring a data engineering lead for our new facilities team within Location360. This team will help enable real time digital insights from multiple domains, from planning to execution, from field to facility realizing large savings and powering new business models through predictive maintenance, virtual factory simulations, and more.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Facilities Engineering Lead , are to:

• Lead a team of 10 or more data engineers, data analysts, and data stewards of varying levels of experience;
• Manage a complex portfolio of work influencing work in areas including artificial intelligence, operations research, new business insights, and new business models across diverse business stakeholders and collaborators in Research and Development (R&D), manufacturing, and commercial teams;
• Lead and participate in design sessions with teams of engineers, analysts, scientists, project managers and business stakeholders designing data processing, storage and delivery solutions for geospatial and multi temporal domains such as environmental, phenotyping, remote sensing, imagery, geopolitical, and operational data and processes;
• As a member of a diverse leadership team, influence the strategic direction of location based data and products across all data domains such as imagery, environmental, field, and facilities;
• Understand business capability needs and processes as they relate to Information Technology (IT) solutions through partnering with Product Managers and business and functional IT stakeholders, and apply this knowledge to defining business problems that need to be solved;
• Facilitate and participate in code reviews, retrospectives, functional and integration testing and other team activities focused on improving quality of delivery;
• Initiate collaboration with Product Owners, other engineers anddata stewards within the team and across data, technical platforms and product teams on planning and aligning roadmaps, delivery dates and integration efforts;
• Facilitate various cross team efforts, like Scrum of Scrums and Release Planning, focused on large scale roadmap alignments, sharing information, solving broad variety of problems, or improving processes;
• Effectively discuss work or provide detail to the right level of audience: business partners, data scientists, engineering teams etc;
• Collaborate to attract, develop, and retain talent through recruitment and public speaking at well known conferences and venues (i.e. Freeand Open Source Software for Geospatial (Foss4G), Google Cloud Platform (GCP Next), Amazon Web Services (AWS Re Invent ).

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related field, with at least eight years of professional software product management or related engineering experience or Master's degree with at least six years of relevant experience or Ph.D. with at least four years of relevant experience or at least 10 years of relevant experience as substitute for degree requirement;
• At least several years of engineering management experience building and leading diverse highly talented teams at internet scale;
• At least several years of managing software development teams and shipping software based products or services;
• At least several years of experience developing and leveraging relationships to influence business outcomes;
• At least several years of experience engineering data intensive software using streaming and resource based design principles;
• At least several years experience in IT Shop floor systems/detailed scheduling/Asset mgmt. and Plant Maintenance;
• Strong understanding of Enterprise resource planning ( ERP) systems ECC 6.0 /S/4 HANA equivalents ofProduction Planning,Plant Maintenance,Materials Management,Warehouse Management,Advanced Planning and Optimization,Quality Management, Order to cash(PP/PM/MM/AM/WM/APO/QM/OTC) and integration with third party applications;
• Experience building out real time manufacturing execution analytical models;
• Experience with data modelling, access layer view build out to surface plant/AM/PP/manufacturing execution and other cross domain insights;
• Experience inStructured Query Language (SQL), Database management;
• Experience in databases such as: Oracle, Teradata, Postgres, HANA or Neo4J;
• Demonstrate experience leading and mentoring on topics of data modeling or architecture design in distributed data systems, including designing both logical and physical models for datasets;
• Proven experience providing reliable estimates for large scale projects;
• Strong interpersonal skills and desire to work in a highly collaborative environment;
• Familiarity with the relevant industry and domain specific relevant trends;
• Familiarity with machine learning and other data science practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in data related projects in the production planning/manufacturing execution/materials management/Asset mgmt./Plant Maintenance areas to use operational, system and machine data to manageand optimize production primarily along with working with functionality and datasets around critical functions like maintenance and planning.
