Fabricator with Welding
Fabricator uses Mig welders and other metal fabrication tools to create or install objects from metal. Welder Fabricators work full time, primarily during first with some overtime required. Welder Fabricators work in factory environments and report directly to the Mounting Leadman. Welder Fabricators work in a team environment with many other workers and perform their duties.
Duties and Responsibilities
Operates Mig Welder (steel and aluminum) and other hand tools to assemble components to truck and van chassis
Read prints to determine parts location and weld pattern as well as over all fit and form.
Fabrication involves laying out, cutting, fitting, measuring, and welding metals to create the desired shape or object. This is highly detailed work and requires the Welder Fabricator to be knowledgeable of many techniques and tools.
Will be cross trained to support chassis frame work and automotive HVAC
Follow all Safety Regulations.
Skills and Qualifications
Physical fitness -Fabricator work with their hands, lifting and moving large pieces of metal, and stand for hours at a time, all of which requires physical strength and stamina
Analytical thinking - Welder Fabricator use analytical skills to monitor work processes and inspect various types of metal
Mathematics - Welder Fabricator use math skills to read and interpret blueprints that contain precise measurements and to make the calculations necessary to shape metal to match these specific designs
Communication skills - Welder Fabricator use verbal communication skills to work in a collaborative environment with other manufacturers and _factory workers_
Measuring - Welder Fabricator work with multiple measuring tools and make precise measurements using metric and US measuring systems, which requires strong measuring skills
Fraction to Decimal - Welder Fabricator are required to work on both fraction and decimal when measuring materials. The ability to go between the two standard is required
