Pre-Construction / Estimating / Sales Manager

VIVA Railings is seeking an Estimating Manager with experience in commercial metal railings, to lead our Estimating team. We are a Division 5 company specializing in architectural stainless-steel metals and material fabrications on commercial guardrails and stair railings.

Candidates must have proven pre-construction estimating experience with excellent organizational skills and leadership skills. Strong management skills in developing a team and managing a department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Manage team of estimators - local, remote, and offshore
• Qualify ITB from customers as Bid / No Bid decision and entry to internal Bid Calendar
• Responsible for managing bid calendar for timely submission of bid proposals.
• Develop and maintain departmental QA / QC & Training processes
• Review bids for accuracy and competitiveness
• Review awarded projects for scope coverage, schedule and exclusions via a scope alignment meeting with customer.
• Handover projects from Estimating to Project Management
• Develop and Maintain customer relationships to grow sales, coordinate with sales teams
• Build working relationships with vendors to determine costs related to raw materials and purchased services.
• Estimate all decorative railings, metal and glass.
• Review respective scope items and perform quantity takeoff
• Ensure all need documents are complete, updated and reviewed.
• Identifies and review respective scope items prior to starting the takeoff which includes but not limited to the following: checks for conflict, reference drawing correctness, clarification needed, buy out items or any questions
• Reads all pertinent specification sections to understand each scope items, takes notes for any needed clarification or possible buy out items or any item which is not clear and should be brought to the attention of the team.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:

• Construction degree or equivalent experience
• 10 years construction estimating experience, preferably in decorative / architectural metal & glass.
• 5 years' experience in a leadership / management role.
• Keen knowledge of commercial construction bidding process, bid and qualification documentation
• Excellent drawing and blueprint reading skills; Architectural, Interiors, & Structural drawings.
• Practical knowledge of commercial construction methods and application of principles.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
