Job Overview

Bald Mountain is an open-pit mine with a large estimated mineral resource base located in White Pine County, Nevada. Its workforce comes from Ely, Eureka, Elko, and Spring Creek area. Kinross acquired in Bald Mountain in January 2016. Nevada is one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world, along the southern extension of the prolific Carlin trend. Job Description The incumbent will be responsible for the daily operation of heavy equipment in an active surface mine environment. All work must be completed in a safe and efficient manner. The employee will work continuously to align daily functions to reflect Kinross' values and work in accordance with standard operating procedures. Essential Functions Perform pre and post operation inspections of equipment. Visually inspect mechanical components and manually check all fuel, oil, and fluid levels according to established operational procedures. Proficiently operate equipment according to established, safe operating procedures in forward and reverse directions in various weather conditions day or night: rain, snow, fog, cold, heat, and dust; and upon various surface conditions: wet, muddy, snowy, icy, and/or uneven or rock-strewn. Operate in a safe and efficient manner, causing the least wear and/or damage to the equipment and mine property; maintaining the highest level of production possible. Follow direction of dispatch and supervisor. Identify hazards in work areas and report or mitigate the risk appropriately. Know the area and dump locations in the mine. Basic knowledge of pit, traffic rules, and safety rules and regulations. Be fit for duty, attend and work through scheduled shift without causing harm to self, to others, or to equipment. An employee must comply with state and federal health and safety regulations and all company policies and procedures. The employee is expected and required to work as a team player. May train co-workers if employee meets these criteria: Good verbal and written communication skills. Strongly supports company policies and processes. Cooperates with other employees. Qualifications and Skill Requirements Previous off road heavy equipment operation experience is preferred. Basic knowledge of heavy equipment mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and functions of haul trucks is preferred. General understanding of mining operations, including a limited understanding of process and maintenance operations required. Strong verbal, written, analytical skills and ability to interact with all levels of employees and management. Basic knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and functions of haul trucks and heavy equipment is desirable. Must keep accurate records of loads and equipment condition. Safely operate equipment forward, reverse directions and around multiple pieces of equipment in mine traffic. Thorough knowledge of mine locations, procedures, mechanical system of truck, load under loaders, shovels (blind spotting), maintain high production, hauling material from point A to point B safely. Conscientious in taking on new tasks to improve skills. Effectively and accurately operate on-board computer panel, two-way radio and fire suppression system Satisfactory safety, performance, and attendance is required. Be a positive, safety-minded contributor to the team. Ability to work independently and as a part of the team. Consistently willing to learn and improve skills. Must be available for shift work, overtime, holidays and weekends. Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full time basis. Possession of a valid driver's license required.
