Job Description

Owens Corning's Global Environmental Technology platform team is seeking a process design engineer with strong technical experience in process and environmental engineering. The successful candidate will support company's assets and capital programs ranging from air pollution control technologies (focusing on oxidation and particulate removal technologies), p rocess chemistry, industrial utility design, and industrial water and wastewater treatment

The candidate is expected to be a process & technology expert first with project experience considered secondary. The ability to conceptualize, plan and organize multiple assignments is a must. The incumbent will be expected to understand OC processes and equipment, have proficient technical/project management skills and be able to transfer past experiences to the job. Cross training in multiple business units, multiple technical platforms, and work within the international arena will occur as part of everyday assignments. Project activity will be on projects ranging from $100K-$130MM. A willingness to travel and work internationally and sensitivity towards diverse cultures is required.

Operates as Technical Expert
  • Develop a strong understanding for the state of the science concerning chemistry and chemical engineering processes used in Owens Corning products and manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to help debottleneck the manufacturing processes challenged by chemistry
  • Provide expertise to the Science and Technology, Manufacturing Operations, and Business Center of Excellence teams in the design of alternative chemistry packages with improved environmental profiles that drive the elimination of environmental control technologies
  • Completes detailed designs of air pollution control projects and wastewater treatment plan projects for industrial operations to support project team to ensure successful execution of productivity projects, including the delivery of engineering solutions across a range of projects and locations, from concept engineering through detailed design & calculation, construction and commissioning.
  • Provides design & project management for R&D related pilot programs. Communicate impact of R&D programs on the Company's future capital plans by communicating costs, timing, and technical "potential for success" as future "scaled-up" programs.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BS Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical, Environmental, Civil Engineering, or adjacent area.
  • 5 years' experience in process and environmental engineering in industry , including extensive knowledge of all project phases (including conceptual design, pre-design, detailed design, and construction administration).
  • Experience in process design and equipment selection
  • Ability to travel (globally) up to 30%
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Advanced degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical, Environmental, Civil Engineering, or adjacent area.
  • Experience with global and/or cross-functional teams that include third party experts.
