Your role:

In your role as a environmental safety coordinator, you will work with a team to ensure that the highly diverse test mission at the Climatic Test Division (ECC) is accomplished while maintaining compliance to the Redstone Test Center (RTC) safety program, OSHA, and other applicable regulations.

What you'll do all day:
Maintain the hazardous waste training records for the division.
Maintain updated hazardous material inventory and associated Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
Oversee the sampling regimen for all ECC waste streams (Salt Fog, Blowing Dust, regulated waste, etc).
Serve as the on-site Environmental POC for all related inspections.
Serve as the ECC representative on the RTC Environmental Council.
Report any spills or releases of hazmat/hazwaste.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum requirements for this position:
5 years of experience directly related to: industrial, facility, and personal safety and environmental programs; Army safety and environmental publications and regulations; and drafting policies and procedures from DoD, federal, state, and local government safety and environmental regulations for application at the organization level.
3 years of experience directly related to environmental safety programs; Army environmental publications and regulations; and drafting policies and procedures from DoD, federal, state, and local government environmental regulations for application at the organization level.
Familiarity with U.S. Army environmental publications/regulations and OSHA/NFPA regulations.
Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

Desired skills and experience for this position:
Educational certification from an accredited college/university/ or Military trade in safety engineering, Health and Safety Science, Health Sciences or related discipline.
Experience with the defense/military environment including familiarity with missile testing, military equipment and test evaluation.
Preference will be given to applicants who are familiar with the following references: Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Hazard Communication (HAZCOM), Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), Clean Water Act (CWA), and Clean Air Act (CAA).
Experience and knowledge of Hazardous Waste storage and turn-in.
