MAIN FUNCTIONS
Environmental Engineers plan, design and supervise a variety of industrial activities and processes in oil and gas to prevent, control or remediate potential environmental impacts. They can specialize in a specific area such as air, water or waste management. Environmental auditing, testing and regulatory compliance/reporting are key activities in this role. Work may include water and waste treatment, site investigation and remediation where environmental site assessments are completed, and pollution control. They participate in or lead regulatory processes, such as environmental impact assessments, that review facilities or field operations to ensure compliance with government regulations and permitting conditions.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assess industrial sites to determine if they satisfy environmental quality criteria.
- Design waste-treatment and pollution-control plans.
- Design sampling protocols for industrial facilities.
- Promote integrated waste-management planning programs.
- Monitor sites and procedures to confirm that private and public operations are in compliance with environmental regulations.
- Design safe solid waste transfer and disposal sites, water distribution and treatment systems, and wastewater collection and treatment systems.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or similar discipline and/or previous experience in a closely related position
- Must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within particular field.
- Exercises initiative and creativity within a defined supported area
- Experience in pollution modelling including - dispersion (air or water), dredge plume modelling, oil spills Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good working knowledge of Oil and Gas facilities (Unconventional knowledge preferable - can be trained on job)
- Good working knowledge of permitting principles, types, requirements, and inputs (can be trained on job)
- Desired familiarity with ProMax or similar process modeling software (not required, can be trained in role)
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office Applications (Power Point and Excel)
- Self-motivated, self-starter, and driven
- Excellent communicator - capable of coordinating and influencing across teams without formal authority and exhibits critical thinking & analytical capabilities
- Local ownership of the brownfield (existing facilities) permitting strategy to ensure all brownfield facilities are in or brought into compliance - Leverage Houston air team for strategy development, leveraging current practices, resources (e.g. 3rd party contractors), and training support
- Review brownfield permitting status for each site - Develop a systematic plan to compare current operational status with existing permit and prioritize permit revisions based on regulatory exposure
- Leverage ops resources, central air team, and gas capture engineers in execution
- Track and report out on permit revision progress and status
- Regular and systematic interface with operations, engineering, and GHG / Net Zero teams to track potential permit implications from design/operational changes - Steward air permitting involvement in MOC process
- Support permit awareness training for all operational staff
