Summary
The EHS coordinator will assist the EHS specialist in his responsibilities. As part of his duties, the EHS coordinator will ensure people are working in a safe and healthy workplace and ensure the facility environmental compliance. The incumbent will work closely with other departments, supervisors and plant personnel to assist them with the implementation of environmental, health and safety policies and procedures.
Main responsibilities
Participate in developing and writing EHS programs and procedures
Coordinates the implementation of EHS programs and procedures
Update these programs and procedures to ensure compliance and effectiveness is maintained
Coordinates EHS activities including but not limited to attending tenant JHSC committee meetings, attending environmental committee meetings and activities, undertaking incident investigation and resolution, awareness-raising activities
Develop and deliver EHS related training modules and programs reflective of applicable legislative requirements and corporate safety policies, procedures and practices.
Participates in field inspections, job observations, health, safety and environment audits and other types of reviews for the purpose of monitoring compliance to environmental and health regulations and identifying risks.
Provides findings about risks and suggestions for improvement.
Assists in the investigation and resolution of incidents including root-cause analysis and providing probable causes of incidents and recommendations for resolution
Coordinates the implementation of corrective and preventative measures
Assists in the identification and analysis of trends
Performs other duties as assigned by the EHS specialist to support departmental goals.
Requirements
College degree in industrial hygiene, environment, occupational health and safety or any other related field
A minimum of two (2) years related job experience within an industrial setting with emphasis on safety and environmental issues
Working knowledge of health and safety legislation and standards
Knowledge of environmental standards is an asset
Proven ability to work autonomously - (i.e., with minimal supervision)
Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
Strong ability to prioritize, plan to meet deadlines while juggling various projects in a constantly changing environment
Team spirit and facility to interact with people
Computer skills
Bilingualism (French / English)
Ability to work in a team
Easy to communicate and to give training.
