Job Overview

Overview / Responsibilities

Works under the close supervision of an experienced Technical Professional. Performs routine aspects of engineering assignments and collaborates with experienced technical professionals for non-routine aspects of engineering assignments. Applies engineering fundamentals learned at schools of higher learning. Begins to perform tasks with increasing initiative by using prescribed standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Assist in the development of engineering deliverables including specifications, calculations, reports, and technical requisitions
  • Develop a working knowledge of Wood's purchased and in-house created software (such as Word, Excel, MathCAD, Foundation3D, and STAAD)
  • Develop a working knowledge of the codes and specifications that govern civil and structural work (such as ACI, AISC, ASCE 7, and IBC)
  • Perform analysis and design of civil and structural items of minor size and complexity (such as pipe supports, simple pipe racks, small steel structures, and their foundations; vessel and tank foundations; retaining walls; and simple sewer systems)
  • Develop estimating sketches and material takeoffs for civil and structural items of minor size and complexity such as those described above
  • Thorough knowledge of the fundamentals for Structural steel and concrete design, and structural analysis typically gained through college education.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET / EAC accredited program
  • Entry level to 2 years of engineering experience.
  • Occasional field visits, which include climbing stairs, gathering information, and measuring
