As a member of Samsung's Memory Solutions Lab (MSL), you will be part of an Advanced Research and Development team developing the next generation of enterprise memory and storage technologies. The team innovates, solves key technical problems in areas and products related to Samsung's NAND flash, DRAM and other memory technologies, and tackles a variety of challenging issues in data center, server, and software infrastructure.


The ideal candidate for this role would share our passion for creating and innovating new technologies, and thrive in a highly dynamic, fast-paced, results-driven environment. We are looking for a manager to work with highly talented, passionate, and versatile engineers who share our vision and contribute to the creation of next generation enterprise memory and storage solutions.

The Research Manager will lead a team of research engineers developing innovative solutions that utilize existing and emerging technologies to add substantial value to Samsung. The group the team falls under covers a broad spectrum of systems technology and is building an ecosystem surrounding efficient utilization of next-generation Samsung SSDs, NVRAM and memory, with vertical integration and optimization across state-of-art technologies, H/W and S/W.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and coach a team of 5-7 research engineers developing solutions for next generation systems.
  • Lead a hybrid team (local with flexible office schedule and remote members) to deliver quality solutions, including design, prototype implementation and evaluation, demonstrations and documentation.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive culture, helping engineers to be motivated, engaged and accountable.
  • Identify areas of improvements and provide opportunities to advocate and promote career growth of team members.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of post-PhD research experience, with 2+ years of technical leadership, including prior project and people management experience.
  • Ability to take a defined project, break it down into assignable tasks, create milestones, set priorities, track and report progress in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate good knowledge of software engineering best practices including coding standards, code reviews, source management, build process, testing and operations.
  • Must be highly motivated with excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, listening and presentation skills.
