Associate Engineer/Assistant Engineer
CellFE is a venture-backed company with a mission to make advanced therapies accessible to all by transforming the way gene therapies are manufactured. The company uses a microfluidics-based cell engineering platform that can be adapted universally to enable low-cost, high-yield manufacturing of gene therapies at scale. CellFE's first generation of products is being developed for contract manufacturers and pharmaceutical companies that specialize in ex-vivo cell therapy and viral vector ("VV") manufacturing.

Position summary: Candidate will provide assistance to the engineering team in developing and optimizing instruments and consumables based on microfluidic-based cell transfection technology
This position is based in Alameda, CA and is reporting to the engineer.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Assist in development and prototyping of the consumables with CellFE patented technology
- Assist in operating and testing instruments and consumables in development
- Prototype and develop subcomponents of the consumable.
- Assist in biological experiments designed to test the instrument and consumable
- Assist in design transfer
- Per engineering guidance, build and assemble prototypes
- Conduct regular maintenance on products and equipment
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- Experience with rapid prototyping (3D printing, laser cutting, etc)
- Familiarity with hand and power tool use (drill, sandpaper, rotary tool, etc)
- Experience with CAD (Rhino3D, Solidworks, etc)
- Proficient with MS office
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, adaptability.
- Familiarity with Windows PC
Preferred Qualifications:
- 0 2 years of industry experience
- Experience with microfluidic system development and testing
- Basic Programming (Python, Java, etc)
- Experience in soldering and wire assembly
- Experience with cell biology and experiments
- Experience with simple electrical circuits (multimeter, oscilloscope, etc)
- Experience with COMSOL CFD simulation software
