Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Selected candidate will have the opportunity work on a variety of flight critical and supporting mission critical avionics subsystems of a large unmanned aircraft, including the Vehicle Management Computer, Electromechanical Control Surface Actuator, Air Data System, Radio Altimeter, Ice Detector, Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) Transponder, Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) and Weather Radar. Depending on program phase, duties will include supplier coordination, production line and field support, lab integration and verification testing, component qualification, requirements allocation, specification development and proposal support. Sufficient collateral knowledge to communicate effectively with other departments is desired, including software, reliability, and Airworthiness as well as the ability to understand air vehicle architecture. Also beneficial and often called upon is the ability to troubleshoot at the system and component level and have knowledge of various interconnection schemes such as Mil-Std-1553, RS-485, and analog. At the Engineer Systems level, the expected characteristics are: - General frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques. - Demonstrates the skill and ability to perform moderately complex professional tasks. - Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of increasing scope and complexity as assigned. - Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy. - Works under general supervision. - Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects. - Failure to achieve results or inadequate work product should be detected by supervisory oversight but may cause delay in program schedules and allocation of additional resources. - Primarily internal company contacts. Infrequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts on routine matters.

Basic Qualifications:
  • The basic qualifications for an Engineer Systems are a Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 2 years of experience, or a Master's degree in STEM
  • The basic qualifications for a Principal Engineer Systems are a Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with a minimum of 5 years' experience, Master's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with a minimum of 3 years' experience
  • SW Tools: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Visio), Matlab
  • General understanding of the GPS system and how it works, general understanding of inertial sensors and how they work.

Salary Range: $82,400 USD - $123,600 USD
Salary Range 2: $101,400 USD - $152,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
