(BCI) is seeking to fill a mid-level Engineer in support of the Aegis program at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD). The successful candidate will provide Systems Engineering support to the NSWCDD Warfare Systems Integration Branch with the preparations, execution, and post event activities associated with Combat System Ship Qualification Trials (CSSQT), Developmental Test (DT), Post Availability Standard Missile (PASM) testing, Operational Test (OT), and other at-sea test events as required. Job Location: Dahlgren, VA Job Start Date: within 2 weeks of hiring Shift: Days 0800- 1600 Experience Required: Successful candidate(s) will possess a minimum of six (6) years of Aegis experience gained while active duty U.S. Navy. A minimum of one (1) tour with an Aegis Combat System (ACS) onboard an Aegis Cruiser, Aegis Destroyer, Aegis Ashore, or instructor for Aegis platforms is required. Optimal candidate will be a former enlisted Aegis Fire Controlman (FCA) or Operations Specialist (OS) with appropriate Aegis Warfare Area expertise (Air, Surface, Undersea, and Ballistic Missile Defense). Prior systems specification and/or systems performance analysis and Test & Evaluation (T&E) experience is a plus. Two (2) years of experience with Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required. A formal degree supporting systems engineering, software engineering or significant analysis experience is not required but is a plus. Description of Duties: This task includes a broad range of engineering and technical activities supporting and leading to the successful development of new/improved war-fighting capabilities within the Aegis Weapon System (AWS) and ACS. Candidate must possess a thorough knowledge of the AWS and be capable of assessing requirements documents, design specifications, technical reports, operational concepts, Test Observation Reports (TORs), Computer Program Change Requests (CPCRs), Software Change Requests (SWCRs), Interface Change Requests (ICRs), and other design and requirement documentation associated with AWS and ACS development and testing. Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to perform efficiently and effectively on multiple projects under tight deadlines. Candidate must possess the willingness and capability to brief technical information to senior personnel in a formal environment. Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and be able to work in a team environment. Successful candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders onboard Navy ships, and perform other onboard ship duties as required. Travel will be required both underway and to testing sites, up to several times per year, up to 30 days per trip. Applicants must be US citizens.
