About This Opportunity
We are seeking an Energy Engineer II with experience in industrial systems and/or energy efficiency. Successful candidates will work directly with our utility customers and industrial clients to identify and study opportunities for maximizing energy efficiency and performance in industrial systems.
Our Project Engineers take a consultative approach, gathering data, installing logging equipment, creating optimization models of industrial systems, and writing feasibility reports for energy efficiency projects, while leading overall management of projects.
The effective Project Engineer utilizes a specific skill set - a combination of analytical ability, communicative personality, willingness to handle administrative details, and innate desire to be of service.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Lead projects and provide overall management, direction, and accountability on assigned projects
- Calculate energy savings for various system or equipment changes using existing calculation tools, original spreadsheets, and/or generally accepted methodologies
- Engage with clients at their industrial locations to fully understand their equipment and operations and identifying opportunities for energy efficiency
- Discuss or explain complex technical issues with a diverse audience on their level in a way that facilitates understanding and consensus
- Document performance through data collection from customer sources or via installed data logging equipment
- Provide peer through technical discussions and work review
This is a full-time, exempt position, in the preferred locations of southern New York (state), eastern Pennsylvania, or northern New Jersey. There are no in-office requirements for this position, but travel and site visits will be required.
Qualifications
Applicants for this role are required to have:
- Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or a related field of study or equivalent education and years of experience
- 1 - 5 years of engineering experience
- Technical knowledge of refrigeration, compressed air systems, steam systems, custom computer modeling of systems, electrical distribution system design, industrial control, and data logging of system results
Highly Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Background in treasure hunting/energy scans/audits
- Exposure or experience with SEM
- Demand Side Management (DSM) program engineering experience
- Technical expertise with the following industrial subsystems: compressed air, process cooling, pumps and fans, industrial controls, steam systems, and data-logging of systems
- Experience giving technical trainings to industrial customers

Compensation & Benefits
Our total rewards include competitive pay and excellent benefits. These include health (90% paid for team member, 80% paid for dependents), vision, FSA or HSA options with an employer contribution, life insurance, short- and long-term disability insurance, paid parental leave, 401k retirement plan with a guaranteed 3% contribution, Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP), annual cash performance bonus, paid vacation, sick time, and an inclusive, flexible paid holiday policy.
The salary range for this position is $83,000 - $101,400 (normalized for Portland OR) and will be geographically adjusted to the actual location. However, final salary offered may vary depending on non-discriminatory factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experiences.
