JOB SUMMARY
The Electronic Field Technician (E-Tech) position is responsible for ensuring the safe and continuous operation of field equipment while in production and on location. Core tasks include remote and onsite support, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and field repair. Other responsibilities include safely upgrading/retrofitting equipment, installing, maintaining, repairing, and/or replacing components and software correctly and efficiently. Technicians will also be exposed to PLC and HMI programming, instrumentation, database maintenance and software installation/configuration. The technician will work with a variety of pneumatic, electronic, and microcomputer devices used to measure and control pressure, flow, temperature, level, motion, force, and chemical composition. The position facilitates efficient and timely repairs and resolves operational issues to ensure little or no disruption to field operations. This position requires continuous travel to field sites in production and other locations such as lay down yards and other shop locations. This position may require travel to the US/Canada for training or as operational needs require.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include but are not limited to the following:
Determines causes for malfunctioning instruments and equipment and takes appropriate action to correct trouble.
Repair, maintain, and adjust system components/hardware or remove and replace defective parts.
Program, update and manage PLC, HMI and Windows based programs and systems.
Calibrate and maintain components and instruments according to manufacturers' specifications.
Reference electrical blueprints and schematics to Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, replace, maintain, or modify 24VDC control systems
Dismantles, inspects, cleans, replaces parts and assembles as required.
Performs inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment, components, and assemblies.
Installs, alters and repairs electrical systems which includes installing conduit, pulling wire through conduit, making proper connections, determining and correcting electrical malfunctions in equipment and electrical control devices.
Preform upgrades, retrofits and modifications to equipment as required due to innovations and retrofit requirements.
Consult manufacturers' manuals to determine test and maintenance procedures
Candidates must follow all safety rules, work hour regulations, and keep work areas in a clean and safe condition.
Compliance with quality and safety management requirements
ABOUT YOU
Excellent mechanical, electrical and technical skills and experience
Familiarity with 24VDC control systems, PLC and HMI automation
1+ year of proven experience in a similar role of E-Tech, Instrumentation Tech, Electrician
Journeyman electrician or apprentice preferred
Must be capable and comfortable with advanced use of technology, computers, electronics
Valid driver's license, clean MVR
Ability to travel up to 40% of the year, up to 1-2 weeks away from home at a time
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
Able to do physically demanding tasks
Exceptional communication and organizational skills
Always approachable and professional in approach
Must possess or have the ability to obtain a passport
