Electrical Project Engineer

The JOIDES Resolution Science Operator (JRSO) at Texas A&M University invites applications for an Electrical Project Engineer (TAMU Classification: Research Specialist III) in our Science Operations division. Preference will be given to applicants with direct experience with electrical engineering, electronics engineering, as it relates to design and maintenance of downhole drilling, logging electronics or electrical systems and development of control systems using LabVIEW software or equivalent. Design experience and maintenance of oil field services, mining, geotechnical or scientific drilling industries is preferred.

Baccalaureate degree in electrical or electronics engineering or other closely related engineering discipline plus eight (8) years of experience (Master's degree is equivalent to two years of experience). Applicants must have a demonstrated fluency in written and spoken English. Successful candidates will have demonstrable experience in the design, installation, trouble-shooting, and maintenance of down hole drilling or logging electronics or electrical systems, repair and testing of instrumentation, data acquisition, or electro-mechanical systems.

Applicants must be able to work cooperatively with others, have the ability to be an effective team leader, and foster collaboration among diverse scientific participants. Ability to obtain passport and international travel visas on a continuing basis. Passing a new employee medical exam and annual seagoing medical exams are a requirement of this postion.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience of the applicant. This is a regular full-time postion, contingent upon continuing availability of funds for IODP.
