Shift: 1st - 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM


SUMMARY:

Under direction of the electronics line supervisor, responsible for assembly, calibration, and final test of instruments, modules, and optical heads.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Electronic Line Responsibilities.

  • Mechanical assembly, wiring, solder connections, cable fabrication, and power on test of instruments and modules in accordance with written procedures.
  • Trouble shooting down to sub-system level identifying PCBA, power supplies, optical heads, cables, wiring, switches, displays, and other components for replacement.
  • Fill out travelers, test data sheets, and tracking documentation.
  • Rework PCB's including replacement of components, connectors, heat sinks, power supplies, and other components as needed.
  • Program testing using temperature chambers, shaker tables, and other environmental test equipment as required
  • Under the direction of engineers, perform complex testing tasks including measurement using oscilloscopes, digital volt meters, signal generators, and logic analyzers.
  • Fill out trouble shooting logs.
  • Maintain assembly station equipment, including soldering irons, rework equipment, and test cables.
  • Organize and keep tidy assembly stations and test stations.
  • Suggest corrections to assembly procedures, test procedures, schematics, and other manufacturing and engineering documentation.
  • Mechanical fabrication of equipment brackets, aluminum boxes, and light machining work as needed to support electronic products.
  • Perform incoming test inspections on PCBA and other electronic components using written procedures.
  • Integrate fiber optical components and optical sub-systems via optical connector or single mode fusion splicing.
  • Load firmware onto embedded processors, DSP's and FPGA's.

Other Responsibilities.

  • Testing support for the optical line, PCS line, and mechanical line.
  • Support R&D with special project assembly and test.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Associate degree highly preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • Certification in Electronics is highly desirable

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • 3-5 years related job experience

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Experience working with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Able to run test software, LabVIEW experience desirable.
  • Very experienced in cable fabrication, hand soldering, rework, mechanical assembly, and operation of basic electronic test equipment.
  • Experience with optical fiber connectors and fusion splicing desirable.
  • Able to read schematics and system diagrams.
  • Should be able to do fabrication of electronic systems from limit documentation including marked up schematics and basic wiring diagrams.
  • Understand how to install firmware on embedded systems.
  • Must be a good team member with a positive attitude and cheerful disposition.
  • Should be comfortable working under pressure to tight deadlines on a daily basis.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Approximately 90% of the work is performed on the manufacturing production floor. The remainder is spent between the R&D lab, inventory stock room, and IQC area.
