About The Opportunity
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Electrical Engineering Technologist to join our team in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. This is an on-site role that will work mainly in Saskatchewan, but some work will take place in Manitoba and Alberta.
The Electrical Engineering Technologist will work with our team to provide services such as emergency troubleshooting to installation, maintenance and acceptance testing, commissioning, start-up, system studies and analysis, repairs, and turn-key type solutions.
More specifically, your essential duties and responsibilities will include:
Performing maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of low, medium and high voltage equipment in a safe & efficient manner
Commissioning and start-up of low, medium, and high voltage equipment & apparatus associated with an electrical power system
Acting as liaison with subcontractors and clients, and developing customer service relationships
Supervising and leading projects to ensure successful project execution according to company and client standards
Providing mentorship to junior technologists and support to team members
Ensuring completion of technical reports and test sheets
Conducting work in a manner prescribed by JA Tech's Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Manual
More About You
In order to qualify for this role, you must have a Diploma from a recognized Electrical Engineering Technology Program, plus registration with applicable professional associations in good standing. You will also need 5+ years of experience on industrial, oil and gas, and utility sites with proven leadership experience and experience with relays.
In addition, you must also have the following skills and experiences:
Experience with testing equipment, such as Omicron and Doble, and relay testing with various equipment (eg SEL, GE, Siemens, ABB)
Experience in substations
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities
Strong knowledge of wiring, schematic and layout drawings
Ability to understand and perform technically complex calculations
A valid driver's license
Ability to travel to job sites as required
Experience drafting in Autocad would be considered an asset.
Our ideal candidate is capable of working independently and running the logistics of a project from end to end, from testing and field work to writing the end-of-job report.
