MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
B.S. Electrical Engineering or related field required, M.S. preferred
8+ years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus in new product design and development.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
2-5 years of experience in supervision desired
Experience in military programs desired
Experience developing electro-acoustic products a plus
Security clearance desired or ability to obtain.
Training in supervision and leadership preferred
ABOUT THE JOB!
As the electrical engineering manager, you will be tasked with supervising all team members in the development of new products to meet the demanding needs of our customers. This position will set direction and lead development of electro-mechanical and electro-acoustic systems through concept, design, evaluation, and documentation of electrical circuits and systems. Will work within department, and closely with program management to ensure electrical engineering team resources are implemented across all programs and tasks. Serve as a companywide expert to consult on product roadmaps, development and production proposals, and customer interface. Champion electrical engineering standardization and continuous improvement initiatives in conjunction with site quality management system. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide guidance to other engineers, designers, and technicians in the execution of electrical engineering related product design and development activities to meet program objectives
Plan and estimate program activities related to electrical engineering for budget and schedule creation
Participate in technical aspects of bids and proposals including conceptual design, technical proposal writing and cost estimating
Participate in setting goals, evaluating performance, and career path mentoring of individual team members
Assist in determining staffing requirements and hiring additional personnel as needed
Determine training needs and arrange for appropriate training and development opportunities for engineering personnel
Review and approve timecards and vacation requests
Coordinate with program managers to assign engineers and technicians to accomplish program requirements and milestones
Foster continuous improvement by setting technical standards, active design reviews, and use of lessonslearned
Responsible for applicable compliance with site quality management systems.
Prepare and present technical reports, recommendations and presentations related to development and product/process investigations
Develop system architecture and create system block diagrams
Aid in and ensure detailed design, schematic capture, and layout of electronic circuits (RF, digital, analog, power) are properly executed, reviewed, and follow DFM best practice
Review designs for reliability, testability, and ease of manufacture
Strategically assess tasks for outsourcing, involve appropriate stakeholders, and develop technical documentation to support contractors
Serve as technical lead on large and/or complex development programs
Support product transition to production through implementation of test strategy, process controls, and test equipment
Collaborate effectively with other functional groups to meet annual Enterprise goals that directly correlate with engineering department execution
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Experience in digital design with embedded controllers and/or digital signal processors
Experience in analog and/or audio design, such as microphone amplifiers, audio filters, switching voltage regulators, etc.
Experience with MIL-STD-461/464 testing and measurement preferred
EMI emissions and susceptibility mitigation techniques in electronic products
Proficiency with modern schematic capture tools. Experience with Cadence/ORCAD preferred
Ability to design and review mixed-signal PCB layout for good signal integrity, EMI performance and DFM best practice
Proficiency with lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, DVMs, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers etc.
Ability to create technical documents and presentations with general computer applications such as word processor (MS Word), spreadsheet (MS Excel), presentation software (MS PowerPoint), etc.
Experience in the following areas is desired:
DSP, microcontrollers, and other embedded processors
Micropower/battery powered design preferred
Signal Processing and/or feedback control systems
A2D, D2A, CODEC system integration
Power conversion, both linear and switch mode
Able to supervise and lead technical personnel
Able to plan and coordinate manpower assignments on multiple projects
Able to estimate effort required to complete technical tasks
Expert level failure analysis and familiar with common root cause analysis tools such as 8D and fishbone diagrams
Workforce talent evaluation and personnel performance management techniques
