Best known for Little Debbie snack cakes, America's leading snack cake brand, Sunbelt Bakery granola products, and Drake's Cakes , McKee Foods Corporation is seeking an Electrical Engineer to be a part of our Plant Engineering Team. This is a highly technical position requiring a self-directed and responsible individual to support a highly automated manufacturing environment by identifying opportunities and executing solutions to improve reliability, quality and efficiency of plant operations and systems. Work is to be performed under the direction of the Engineering Coordinator with considerable independence. A successful candidate must demonstrate initiative, professionalism, and strong work ethic.
Pay grade
Salary grade 5, 8, 10, or above 10, depending on qualifications.
Required Qualifications
B.S degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited engineering program
Demonstrated high level of initiative, assertiveness, and self-direction
Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize multiple project activities
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Working knowledge of historian database applications with dashboard integration in various formats
Demonstrated ability to work with people of all backgrounds at various levels: strong interpersonal and communication skills
Working knowledge of National Electric Code and ability to apply it in industrial manufacturing design
Familiarity with PLC-based control systems, preferably Allen Bradley & Modicon
Familiarity with HMI controlled control systems, preferably Allen Bradley
Ability to analyze data to identify deliverables, gaps, and inconsistencies
Familiarity with VFDs
Successful McKee test results
Preferred Qualifications
Proven electrical engineering track record for projects delivering results within the allotted budget and schedule while meeting the needs of the customer
Experience with design, installation, and commissioning of large PLC base industrial control systems
Experience with Allen Bradley and Modicon PLC programming and troubleshooting
Experience with VFD application, programming, and trouble-shooting
Experience with HMI process visualization programming, system design, and troubleshooting
Experience with motion control design and troubleshooting (Indramat, Allen Bradley, and Pacific Scientific)
Experience with Allen Bradley and Yaskawa VFD programming and troubleshooting
Experience using Ignition and IndSQL
Experience troubleshooting automated production equipment
Experience evaluating for safety risk and implementing safe design solutions
Knowledge of shop practices
Ability to manage projects of varying complexity
Experience in a food-manufacturing environment
Working knowledge of sanitary design principles
Familiarity with LEAN principles and concepts
Duties And Responsibilities
Develops new and innovative solutions, approaches, equipment and systems that add value to the company
Work closely with plant teams to optimize daily operations and provide engineering support to solve problems
Identify process improvement opportunities using real time equipment data
Establish communications with legacy equipment to the server to support the design and launch of dashboards in manufacturing
Participate in the design process of dashboards in manufacturing as required
Provide technical training to manufacturing and maintenance personnel
Responsible for PLC, HMI, Robotics, and Motion Control programming
Responsible for developing and meeting project cost, justification, schedule, and performance objectives
Participates in team meetings providing engineering input and guidance
Leads cross-functional teams to make improvements in processes and procedures
Directs the work of contractors and administrative employees as required
Performs after hours or on-call duties, as required
Execute other duties as assigned
