Position Summary

Engineer robotics and electrical solutions for systems used in subsea ROVs (remotely operated vehicle).

LOCATION

Role provides the opportunity to work in a hybrid environment, working both virtually and in the office when required.

Duties & Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL
  • Communicate with internal and external customers and coworkers to establish the required functionality of electrical and electronic systems and components
  • Perform the research, analysis, testing and proof-of-concepts required prior to final design
  • Design digital, analog and mixed signal PCBs and other components along with their required interfaces using CAD tools such as Altium Designer
  • Design, code, and test the C/C++ and assembly language programs required for PCB testing and product firmware
  • Create test regimens, hardware and software as needed
  • Perform full functional test of components with diagnosis of faults and modification as needed
  • Produce documentation for the testing, fault diagnosis, and normal use of the design
  • Perform all clerical functions needed to order components, produce parts, and establish parts in inventory
  • Perform product life cycle support functions such as technical support and failure analysis
  • Assist with creation of team, group, and company policies that govern electrical engineering and associated activities and goals, and comply with these policies
  • Communicate positively and effectively with supervisors, coworkers, internal and external customers, and suppliers during all phases of work
  • Participate constructively in team, group, and company meetings such as peer reviews, scheduling of tasks, establishing near and long term goals, etc.
  • Up to 10% domestic and international travel. Potential for occasional offshore work.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
  • Reports to Sr Manager, SSR+OPG Software Engineering

Qualifications

REQUIRED
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent degree
  • Minimum 5 years' work experience as an Electrical Engineer or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 3 years' experience with circuit board design and production
  • Minimum 3 years' experience writing firmware for microcontrollers with C/C++ language
  • Minimum 3 years' experience using lab equipment such as power supplies, digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, soldering tools, etc.
  • Strong analytical and communcation skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under general direction
  • Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.
  • Ability to work offshore on vessels or platforms as needed.

DESIRED
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Altium, SolidWorks or AutoCAD
  • Experience with assembly language programming
  • Experience with Arduino boards and programming environment
  • Experience with Microchip and/or ESP32 microcontrollers
  • Desire to learn and continually develop

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS
  • Microsoft Office suite for documentation and presentation
  • PLM tools such as AGILE, Enovia, or similar
  • CPLD/FPGA design
  • Safe use of lab equipment including power supplies, oscilloscope, soldering tools, various meters, bench tools, heat and pressure test chambers, etc.
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication.

Additional Information

The position will be Hybrid-Remote. Employees are expected to travel to their designated office as schedules require.
