Actalent Services is seeking an Electrical Engineer for a great, family feel company in Eugene! This company is open to seeing entry level engineers or experienced engineers!!

Job Description:

Initially this Electrical Engineer will be working primarily with laser sensors and electrical panels, completing the design and testing of the sensors. These sensors are used to estimate the volume in a log to determine how to maximize the number of boards that can be cut from each log. They are also used with trimmers and edgers.

After this sensor is done there are several other R&D projects to work on including the sensor based on LIDAR. The electrical components used in this sensor need updating and a thorough redesign is needed.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Consult with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
• Work closely with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
• Troubleshoot processes and solve problems with Electrical/Mechanical components to ensure continuous production.
• Assist in training the workforce on manufacturing processes and process improvements.
• Provide shop floor feedback on product design and manufacturability issues to Engineering.
• Review and sign-off on Engineering Change Orders that impact Inventory - including product life cycle issues, obsolescence, etc.
• Responsible to assist with investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for manufacturing quality issues.

Skills & Qualifications Needed:

• BS in Electrical Engineering
• Knowledge and/or experience with circuit design on electrical boards
• Good communication skills
• Troubleshooting knowledge and/or experience
• FPGA knowledge and/or experience
