Velocity produces "restomod" restorations where vintage vehicles are upgraded with modern parts, drivetrain, and technology making them functionally new while maintaining an original or vintage aesthetic. The company has pioneered a custom classic vehicle renovation via an assembly line process, ensuring a high level of quality control, with a known price, and significantly decreased build time. We have a talented team of 100+ employees and a 135,000 square foot facility where we are continuing to add additional production lines and new vehicle offerings.

Job Description

The Electrical Engineer role will be responsible for leading, implementing and communicating an operational plan for completing projects. Lead electrical engineering activities such as evaluation and improvement of electrical systems, process improvements for installation of electrical systems across all model lines, quality, and new model activities. This role will also be responsible for investigating new technologies and implementing countermeasures for quality issues. The engineer should be able to develop testing procedures and fixtures, create detailed drawings, identify warranty data trends and perform root cause analysis.

Duties and Responsibilities

Deliver quality designs on manufacturing and automotive projects to help ensure we are delivering quality drawings, on schedule, and within budget.
Applying intensive and diversified knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices across broad areas of assignments.
Creating and refining unique design solutions to complex engineering problems.
Working closely with our research and design department on complex and multi-discipline projects.
Assists in the design, development, modification, and evaluation of electronic components and systems.
Implements circuit schematic development with and without Computer-aided Design (CAD) tools.
Interprets and authors circuit schematics as needed.
Authors, develops, and tests quality, efficient circuit design using analog, digital and mixed signal semiconductor technology.
Troubleshoots, debugs, develops, and proves critical root cause analysis strategies.
Reads and interprets advanced technical data.
Determines component specifications, appropriate to application.

Required Skills and Abilities

Individual must be technically minded, and able to manage projects and assigned objective to completion.
High proficiency in MS office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
Excellent oral, written, editing, and presentation communication skills.
Production focused.
Ability to work in a fast-paced growth environment.
Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
Effective communication skills.
Ability to take constructive feedback.
Willingness to work independently or with a team.
Ability to work over 40 hours per week.

Education and Experience

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
Experience working with automotive wiring harnesses, electrical layout and design, TCM tuning, and programming controls.
Experience working with electric vehicles is a plus.
Experience in 6-Sigma is a plus.

Physical Demands (to include but not limited to)

Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment including computer, office equipment, telephone, etc.
Sit or stand for long periods of time.
Walk long distances across shop floor to communicate and gather information as needed.
Ability to lift, carry, and place items up to 50 pounds without assistance.
Occasional reaching overhead and below knees, including squatting, bending, stooping, kneeling, and twisting.
Ability to work long hours in hot or cold temperatures.
